Duarte ended Wednesday's 126-120 loss to Orlando with 16 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-8 FT), two rebounds, five assists and six steals in 39 minutes. Duarte has started the past two games in the absence of Tyrese Haliburton (knee, elbow) and Andrew Nembhard (illness). During Tuesday's win over Chicago, Duarte tied his career-high nine rebounds, and he followed that up one day later by setting a new career mark with six steals. The second-year wing's poor efficiency -- 34.0 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from three -- is becoming a serious concern regarding his career trajectory, but it's encouraging that he's finding other ways to contribute when called upon.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Season high in rebounding in start
Duarte accumulated 11 points (2-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), nine rebounds, three assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Tuesday's 116-110 victory over Chicago. Duarte got his first start since Jan. 13, and he led the Pacers with a season-high rebound mark while finishing one board shy of a double-double. Duarte has tallied at least 10 points and five rebounds on two occasions this season.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Starting against Chicago
Duarte is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Bulls, Tony East of SI.com reports. Duarte will start for the first time since Jan. 13, when he posted seven points and two rebounds across 26 minutes in a loss to the Hawks. The former Oregon standout has played off the bench most of the season, and he's averaging 9.2 points per game across six starts in the current campaign. He will start in place of Andrew Nembhard (illness).... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Pops for 18 points off bench
Duarte finished with 18 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), two steals, one rebound and one assist in 17 minutes in Friday's 134-111 loss to the Nuggets. Duarte came through with his second big scoring game off the bench in less than a week, but his downward-trending playing time makes it difficult to trust him to turn in these kinds of performances moving forward. The eight trips to the free-throw line he made Friday likely aren't replicable for a lower-usage player like Duarte, who is averaging just 1.7 free-throw attempts per game for the season. And when Duarte isn't scoring, he isn't bringing much to the table on the defensive end; prior to Friday, he hadn't recorded a steal in his last 12 games, and he's averaging only 2.1 rebounds and 0.2 blocks per game in January.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Goes for team-high 25 points
Duarte closed Saturday's 130-112 loss to the Grizzlies with 25 points (7-15 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-7 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes. Duarte has hit double figures in scoring in just four of his 23 appearances this season, but he's now gone for 25 or more points in two of those contests. Despite briefly exiting from Saturday's contest with a hand injury, Duarte proceeded to return to the game and finished with an excellent line while playing his most minutes since Oct. 31. Duarte's hot shooting likely played a factor in him garnering extended run, and while he should benefit from a slight uptick in playing time while Tyrese Haliburton (knee) is out, the second-year wing may see his minutes fall closer to the 20-to-25 range in most games moving forward.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Returns to game
Duarte has returned to Saturday's game against the Grizzlies after suffering an injury to his left hand earlier in the contest. Duarte got off to a hot start before exiting, logging 12 points and two assists in just 10 minutes of action. With his return, Bennedict Mathurin will see his typical allotment of minutes.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Questionable to return
Duarte is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Grizzlies due to left hand soreness. Duarte exited the contest after just 10 minutes of action, during which he scored 12 points and dished out two assists. If he is unable to return, Bennedict Mathurin would be in line for more minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Slides back to bench
Duarte will return to the second unit for Saturday's matchup with the Grizzlies, Tony East of SI.com reports. Duarte saw a spot start last time out with Aaron Nesmith (illness) absent, but he will return to the bench with Nesmith healthy Saturday. Duarte has failed to earn fantasy relevance since returning from injury, averaging just 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Gets starting nod
Duarte is in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus the Hawks, Tony East of SI.com reports. Duarte will replace Jalen Smith in the starting five Friday. The second-year guard will make his sixth start of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Good to go Wednesday
Duarte (ankle) is available for Wednesday's game versus the 76ers, Duarte has been downgraded from questionable to out Wednesday due to left ankle soreness. Andrew Nembhard and Oshae Brissett will likely see extended minutes in his absence. Duarte's next chance to suit up is Friday's matchup with Portland.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Questionable against Philadelphia
Duarte is questionable for Wednesday's game versus the 76ers due to left ankle soreness. Duarte has been dealing with a nagging injury but has been able to play through it in his last three outings. If the second-year guard can't suit up Wednesday, his next chance to play will be Friday's matchup with the Trail Blazers.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Not on injury report
Duarte (head) isn't on the injury report for Saturday's game against the Clippers. Duarte sustained a head injury Thursday against Cleveland but practiced Friday and will be able to play through the issue on New Year's Eve. Over his last six appearances, he's averaged 5.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Practices Friday
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said Duarte (head) is doing 5-on-5 work at Friday's practice and is "doing fine," Tony East of SI.com reports. Duarte exited Thursday's game against Cleveland with a head injury. While he doesn't yet have an injury designation for Saturday's matchup with the Clippers, Carlisle's comments are encouraging for Duarte's availability.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Questionable to return
Duarte is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Cavaliers after getting hit in the head, Tony East of SI.com reports. Duarte was scoreless on four attempts through 11 minutes of action before exiting the game. If he doesn't return, Bennedict Mathurin would be in line for more minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Active Tuesday
Duarte (ankle) is active Tuesday against Atlanta, Tony East of SI.com reports. Despite landing on the injury report with a left ankle injury, Duarte will be available for the Pacers on Tuesday. Across his last four matchups, the Oregon product has averaged 7.0 points and 2.3 assists.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Lands on injury report Tuesday
Duarte is questionable for Tuesday's matchup against Atlanta due to left ankle soreness. Duarte was a late addition to the injury report Tuesday morning, which is always a concerning development. The extent of the issue remains unclear, but if he doesn't suit up, Bennedict Mathurin and T.J. McConnell would be candidates for increased roles off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Sinks four threes off bench
Duarte logged 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 117-112 win over the Celtics. In just his second game back from a lengthy absence due to an ankle injury, Duarte found his three-point stroke in a big way. The Pacers appear to be easing him back into action, but with rookie Andrew Nembhard struggling to make an impact as the starting shooting guard, it may not be long before Duarte is back in the starting five.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Middling numbers in return
Duarte (ankle) finished with six points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-5 FT) and two rebounds across 15 minutes in Sunday's 109-106 loss to the Knicks. Though he was on a playing-time restriction Sunday while he made his first appearance for Indiana in more than a month and a half due to a left ankle sprain, Duarte may not see his minutes pick up dramatically while Indiana has all of its key rotation players available. Prior to getting hurt, Duarte averaged 19.7 minutes per game over his first nine appearances of the 2022-23 campaign. A 2021-22 NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection a year ago, Duarte has seen his playing time and output impacted by the arrivals of Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard via the draft and Aaron Nesmith via trade over this past summer.... Pacers' Chris Duarte: Returning on minutes restriction
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said Duarte (ankle) will play in Sunday's game against the Knicks. Though he'll be cleared for his first NBA action since Nov. 4, Duarte may have a smaller minutes load than usual, according to Tony East of WTHR Channel 13 Indianapolis. Prior to suffering his left ankle sprain, Duarte had averaged 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 three-pointers and 1.0 assists in 19.7 minutes per contest over nine appearances. Duarte most recently made two appearances with the G League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants to get ramped up, so he won't be coming into Sunday's contest completely cold.... See More ... See Less -
Pacers' Chris Duarte: Inefficient in G League win
Duarte (ankle) totaled 17 points (4-15 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Friday's 122-118 win over Santa Cruz. Duarte, who's rehabbing from an ankle injury, made his second rehab appearance in the G League on Friday. While he finished with solid production, the 25-year-old struggled mightily with his shot. He's listed as questionable for the Pacers' matchup against the Knicks on Sunday, so it appears his stint in the G League has come to an end.... See More ... See Less
