Wizards' Jason Smith: Logs 28 minutes Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith (knee) played 28 minutes during Tuesday's 98-103 loss to the Nets, posting nine points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one steal and one block.

Despite an MRI coming back negative on his knee early last week, Smith was held out of the last three games for additional rest and recovery. However, with backup center Ian Mahinmi (knee) sitting out, Smith returned to the lineup and played a season-high 28 minutes while filling in behind starter Marcin Gortat. Once Mahinmi is healthy enough to play, Smith should fall back to third on the depth chart, which means he'd only see a handful of minutes most nights.

Wizards' Jason Smith: Has MRI on knee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith underwent an MRI on his knee following Monday's loss to the Jazz that came back negative, Candace Buckner of The Washington Post reports.

The injury confined Smith to the sideline for the second half of a back-to-back set Tuesday against Portland, but even if his knee hadn't been an issue, it's unlikely the big man would have been asked to play major minutes. Prior to Tuesday, Smith appeared in just three of the Wizards' preceding seven contests, averaging 7.7 minutes per contest.

Wizards' Jason Smith: Will move back to bench Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith will return to the bench for Friday's game against the Cavaliers.

Smith picked up the spot start on Wednesday with Otto Porter out with an illness, posting six points, two rebounds and one assist across 16 minutes. However, with both Markieff Morris (abdomen) and Porter back in the top unit, Smith will shift back to his usual bench role. Smith should struggle to pick up anything more than minutes in the teens, keeping him off the fantasy radar in most leagues.

Wizards' Jason Smith: Starting at power forward Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith will draw the start at power forward during Wednesday's game against the Suns as a result of Otto Porter being ruled out due to a stomach virus, Candace Buckner of The Washington Post reports.

Smith has appeared in just three games this season while dealing with a shoulder injury. He posted five points, four rebounds and one block across 16 minutes in the team's most recent game, however. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points and 5.8 boards in the nine games where he saw at least 24 minutes of action.

Wizards' Jason Smith: Will play Wednesday vs. Lakers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith (shoulder) will play in Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Candace Buckner of the Washington Post reports.

Smith has missed the last two games with a right shoulder sprain, but after going through full-contact 4-on-4 drills on Tuesday, the writing was on the wall for his return. That being said, even with Markieff Morris (abdomen) still out, Smith is slated to come off the bench, as the Wizards will go with a smaller lineup that features Kelly Oubre and Otto Porter at the two forward spots. Smith will likely struggle to post fantasy worthy numbers.
