  • Markus Howard: Slated to play in Spain

Howard has signed with a team in Spain, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Howard had sporadic playing time with the Nuggets over the last two seasons and wasn't extended a qualifying offer during the offseason. He averaged 3.4 points in 5.6 minutes per game in the NBA over the last two seasons and will elect to head overseas for the 2022-23 season.

  • Markus Howard: Not extended qualifying offer

Howard wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Jazz on Thursday and became an unrestricted free agent, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports. Howard has spent the past two seasons with the Nuggets seeing limited action. Last year, he averaged 4.1 points in 5.7 minutes across 31 appearances. He might garner interest from rebuilding teams as a development option.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Drops 25 in finale

Howard provided 25 points (8-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 24 minutes during Sunday's 146-141 overtime loss to the Lakers. Howard had plenty of explosive scoring games during his days at Marquette, but he's struggled to find a consistent rotation spot with the Nuggets. He carved out a larger role last season after Jamal Murray went down, but Howard has played double-digit minutes only six times in 2021-22.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Hot from deep

Howard racked up nine points (3-4 FG, 3-3 3Pt) and one steal in three minutes during Sunday's 136-100 win over Milwaukee. Howard continued the scoring barrage with the Nuggets dominating throughout the fourth quarter. The Marquette product is a microwave three-point shooter and has boomed on occasion at the NBA level. That being said, he should still be regarded as merely a fourth-string point guard.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Listed available Tuesday

Howard (illness) is listed as available for Tuesday's game against the Pistons. An illness sidelined Howard for the Nuggets' previous game, but he'll be available should coach Michael Malone need him. Howard has appeared in only one of Denver's last 16 contests.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: May play Tuesday

Howard (illness) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's contest against the Pistons, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports. Howard missed the first matchup with Detroit on Sunday due to a non-COVID illness, but he has a chance to return for the rematch Tuesday. He's made only one appearance since mid-December, so his status isn't expected to impact the Nuggets' rotations.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Dealing with non-COVID illness

Howard (illness) is questionable for Sunday's contest against the Pistons, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports. Howard was a late addition to the injury report with a non-COVID illness. However, his potential absence shouldn't impact Denver's rotation, as he's made just one appearance since mid-December.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Recalled from G League

Howard rejoined the Nuggets for practice Tuesday after he was recalled from the G League's Grand Rapids Gold, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports. Howard has made 17 appearances for the Nuggets this season and is averaging 4.2 points across 6.9 minutes during those games. Other than Jamal Murray (knee), the Nuggets' backcourt is starting to look full again as Austin Rivers (illness) is practicing and expected to return to action soon, so barring a blowout, Howard is unlikely to crack the rotation.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Gets 28 minutes in G League

Howard recorded 14 points (4-14 FG, 3-11 3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 28 minutes Sunday in the G League Grand Rapids Gold's 115-111 loss to the Delaware Blue Coats. Denver assigned the two-way player to the Gold after he made his return from a near-one-month absence due to a sprained left knee in the Nuggets' 140-108 win over the Trail Blazers on Thursday. Though Howard is seemingly healthy now, the Nuggets didn't have a spot available for him in the rotation, so the second-year player looks like he'll pick up some extended run in the G League. While he shot inefficiently Sunday, Howard should remain a go-to scorer fo the Gold so long as he sticks with the affiliate.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Assigned to G League

Howard was assigned to the G League's Grand Rapids Gold on Friday, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports. Howard played three minutes Thursday, his first action since spraining his knee Dec. 15. The second-year guard is expected to get more consistent playing time during his stint in the G League.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Available Thursday

Howard (knee) will be available for Thursday's matchup with the Trail Blazers. Howard will return Thursday after spraining his knee just four weeks ago. The 22-year-old has seen limited playing time this season and is unlikely to see any extended run Thursday due to his previous injury.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Questionable Thursday

Howard (knee) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports. Howard was expected to be re-evaluated in six weeks after suffering a left knee sprain in mid-December, but he's apparently progressed faster than expected in his recovery. The 22-year-old averaged 14.7 points and 1.0 rebounds in 16.7 minutes over the previous three games before going down with the injury.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Suffers sprained knee

Howard sprained his left knee during Denver's loss to the Timberwolves on Wednesday and will be re-evaluated in six weeks. The second-year guard exited Wednesday's contest in the fourth quarter with a knee injury, but thankfully will not be lost for the entire season. Bones Hyland, Facundo Campazzo, and Austin Rivers all figure to see a little boost in usage with Howard on the sideline. The Nuggets can't seem to buy a break with injuries as Howard joins Michael Porter (back), Jamal Murray (knee) and PJ Dozier (knee) on the bench.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Managing knee injury

Howard suffered a left knee injury during Wednesday's loss to the Timberwolves, and he may be dealing with a hyperextension, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports. Howard was helped off the court with what appeared to be a serious injury, but the initial hope is that the knee issue isn't severe. The 22-year-old had 14 points (4-13 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and two steals in 17 minutes before exiting with the injury. Howard is scheduled to undergo more testing Thursday.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Explodes for 21 points Saturday

Howard logged 21 points (7-15 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and one rebound across 21 minutes during Saturday's 127-112 victory over the Spurs. Howard entered the contest with just 25 points in 13 games on the season, and he nearly matched that point total with his scoring binge Saturday. The second-year guard went off with six three-pointers -- he had drained a total of five triples across the entire campaign coming in. Howard had played less than two minutes combined over his previous two games, but he may have earned himself a longer look with his standout effort Saturday.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Scores 31 points

Howard recorded 31 points (11-22 FG, 9-17 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal during a 113-107 preseason overtime win Thursday at Oklahoma City. Despite recording less than 10 Nuggets preseason points before Thursday, Howard scored 11 across the fourth quarter of their most recent one and received an opportunity to score 12 more during overtime. He will be a promising contender against backup Facundo Campazzo.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Signs two-way with Nuggets

Howard (COVID-19 protocols) inked a two-way contract with the Nuggets on Sunday. The former Marquette star appeared in 37 games for the Nuggets last season in his first taste of NBA action. He didn't have much of a role for most of the year, but Howard averaged 15.1 minutes per game over Denver's final 15 contests with Jamal Murray (knee) sidelined. During a three-game stretch in mid-May, Howard tallied 15, 20 and 23 points in consecutive games. With Murray likely to be on the shelf for at least the first half of the season, Howard could find his way into regular minutes off the bench. However, he's unlikely to become fantasy relevant in standard leagues.

  • Nuggets' Markus Howard: Out again Tuesday

Howard (COVID-19 protocols) will not play in Tuesday's summer game against Boston, Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports reports. Howard remains in the league's health and safety protocols, and it's unclear if he'll be able to take the court at any point in Las Vegas. The Nuggets will continue to handle his status on a game-by-game basis, so the hope is that the high-scoring guard out of Marquette will be cleared in time for Thursday's matchup with the Suns.
