Jazz's Joe Johnson: Productive off bench again Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson managed 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block across 29 minutes in Tuesday's 105-99 preseason win over the Lakers.

Johnson bounced back from a four-point outing versus the Suns on Monday night to put together his second double-digit scoring effort of preseason. Considering Joe Ingles' struggles during the exhibition slate, it's conceivable that head coach Quin Snyder could opt to move Johnson up to the starting two-guard or small forward role, with Rodney Hood (neck) handling whichever of the two spots Johnson doesn't slot into.

Jazz's Joe Johnson: Contributes 11 points Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson totaled 11 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 24 minutes in Friday's 112-101 preseason win over the Suns.

Johnson had been rested on Wednesday versus Maccabi Haifa but was back to a full minutes load Friday. He was able to parlay the opportunity into better production than in the preseason opener last Monday, when he'd managed just two points, two rebounds and two assists over 14 minutes. The 17-year veteran's minutes are likely to be carefully managed during the preseason in anticipation of what are currently projected to be backup shooting guard and small forward responsibilities. Despite the anticipated second-unit role, Johnson should see appreciable minutes, and his scoring proficiency will be especially valued in the Jazz's first season without the services of Gordon Hayward.

Jazz's Joe Johnson: Resting Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will be rested for Wednesday's game against Maccabi Haifa, Andy Larsen of KSL.com reports.

Johnson and Rodney Hood are both sitting out Wednesday's contest for rest, leaving the Jazz a little thin at a couple of positions. With both players out, look for Joe Ingles and Thabo Sefolosha to get some extra minutes, while Alec Burks and Dante Exum could also see some increased run. He should be back in action for Friday's exhibition game against Phoenix.

Jazz's Joe Johnson: Moved back to bench for Game 3
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was moved back to the bench for Game 3, Chris Haynes of ESPN reports.

Johnson started in Games 1 and 2 as the Jazz attempted to use a smaller lineup against the Warriors. He scored just 19 combined points in the two games while battling a sprained finger. Johnson will still see a good number of minutes on the court as Utah attempts to come back from a 2-0 series deficit.

Jazz's Joe Johnson: Modest output in Game 2 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (finger) supplied eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and three assists over 30 minutes during Thursday's 115-104 loss to the Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The veteran swingman battled a pinky finger sprain throughout the majority of the game, and it appeared to affect his shot to an extent. After taking 13 and 10 shot attempts, respectively, in Game 7 of the first round and Game 1 of the current series, Johnson was more of a complementary presence Thursday, with Gordon Hayward, Rudy Gobert and spot starter Shelvin Mack all outpacing him in that category. He did drain multiple threes for the second straight contest, and, provided his finger is healthy enough, should start again in Game 3 in Utah on Saturday.
