David West: Ends playing career
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West announced Thursday that he has retired from professional basketball, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

A 2003 first-round pick of the New Orleans Hornets, West spent the first nine seasons of his career in the Big Easy and turned in All-Star campaigns in 2008-09 and 2009-10. West remained a consistent double-digit scorer for the Pacers from 2011-12 to 2014-15 before reinventing himself as a role player off the bench for the Spurs in 2015-16 and the Warriors the past two seasons. He earned his only NBA championships during his two years with Golden State, with his efficient shooting -- he converted a career-best 57.1 percent of his field-goal attempts in 2017-18 -- and sublime passing ensuring the Warriors didn't miss a beat when the starters were resting. With second-year big man Jordan Bell set to take on a bigger role for the Warriors during the upcoming campaign, the team likely didn't have much interest in re-signing West on a guaranteed deal, so the 38-year-old decided to call it quits. He wraps up his 15-year career with averages of 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28.2 minutes per game over 1,034 regular-season tilts.

Warriors' David West: Plays his role to perfection in victory Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West had just four points (2-4 FG) but added seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 99-91 victory over San Antonio.

West did his thing Tuesday, adding some size to the Warriors when needed while providing veteran leadership out on the floor. While his numbers don't jump off the board, he contributes all over the floor and remains a vital role player within the team structure. The Warriors will now face Anthony Davis and the Pelicans in the second-round and West is going to need to be out there to contend with Davis and the other Pelicans big-men.

Warriors' David West: Available for Game 3
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (ankle) will be available to play in Game 3 against the Spurs on Thursday, Mark Medina of the Mercury News reports.

West injured his ankle in the fourth quarter of Game 2, but it apparently wasn't anything overly serious and he'll be available in his typical bench role for Game 3. Despite rejoining the lineup, West will likely only see minutes in the teens, even if JaVale McGee (quad) is unable to give it a go. As a result, continue to avoid West for DFS purposes Thursday.

Warriors' David West: Productive in Game 2 before injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (ankle) went for 10 points (3-3 FG, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block across 14 minutes during Golden State's 116-101 win over the Spurs in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series.

The productive veteran scored on three straight second-quarter possessions in typically efficient fashion, but he suffered an ankle injury with 9:59 remaining. West headed to the locker room and eventually returned to the bench, but he didn't make it back onto the floor. The 37-year-old is considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's Game 3.

Warriors' David West: Plays well in 11 minutes
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West produced four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one block over 11 minutes of action during Thursday's 126-106 loss at the host Pacers.

Despite seeing only 11 minutes of game-time, West played fairly well Thursday, as he recorded at least one tally in most of the major statistical categories. Since returning from his elbow injury, the 14-year veteran from Xavier is averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds across 11 games, which are all down from his season averages though.

Warriors' David West: Five points in return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (elbow) registered five points (1-6 FG, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 16 minutes in Friday's 98-93 loss to the Kings.

West returned from a five-game absence and supplied modest production relative to playing time. Despite the plethora of absences on the Warriors' first unit, West's second-unit role -- one that typically includes minutes in the teens -- is expected to remain the same.

Warriors' David West: Cleared to play vs. Kings
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (elbow) will play Friday against Sacramento, Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

West had been dealing with a cyst on his elbow, which cost him the last five games, but he'll return to action Friday and should be available for his usual role of roughly 15 minutes off the bench.

Warriors' David West: Officially probable Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is listed as probable for Friday's matchup with the Kings, Mark Medina of the Mercury News reports.

Steve Kerr indicated prior to Wednesday's contest that he expected West back for Friday's game, so this news doesn't come as much of a surprise. Look for West to slot in as depth in the frontcourt, but with Draymond Green (shoulder) also returning, there may not be a ton of minutes available and he shouldn't be relied upon for fantasy purposes. That said, his likely return should still mean less minutes for guys like Omri Casspi, Jordan Bell and Kevon Looney.

Warriors' David West: Expected to return Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is expected to play Friday against the Kings, Mark Medina of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

West will have missed five consecutive games before potentially returning Friday as he's been dealing with a cyst on his right arm. The Warriors will welcome his return as they are currently dealing with a number of injuries throughout their roster. When West does make his return, he will likely continue to see the 13.6 minutes per game he's been averaging this season.

Warriors' David West: Ruled out Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.

West will be missing a fifth straight game, as he's still dealing with a cyst on his right arm. The Warriors are also going to be without starting power forward Draymond Green (shoulder) on Wednesday, which is going to leave the team short on depth in the frontcourt. With both Green and West out, look for guys like Kevon Looney, Omri Casspi and Jordan Bell to see added minutes.

Warriors' David West: Remains out with cyst
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is out for Sunday's game against the Timberwolves.

West will be forced to miss his fourth straight game due to a cyst in his right arm. It's unclear when the 37-year-old could return, but expect Kevon Looney and Omri Casspi to see increased minutes in West's absence. His next chance to return will come Tuesday against the Lakers.

Warriors' David West: Won't play Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is out for Friday's contest against the Trail Blazers.

West will miss a third straight game Friday as he continues to recover from a cyst in his right arm. As a result of his absence, Kevon Looney and Omri Casspi should see extra run.

Warriors' David West: Ruled out Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is out for Thursday's contest against the Spurs, Mark Medina of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

This news doesn't come as a surprise, as West was listed as doubtful after missing Tuesday's contest against the Knicks due to a cyst in his right arm. As a result of his absence Thursday, Kevon Looney is a strong candidate to see extra run.

Warriors' David West: Doubtful Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (arm) is doubtful for Thursday's tilt against the Spurs.

West missed Tuesday's game against the Knicks due to a cyst in his right arm, which is apparently still giving him significant pain. Assuming he misses Thursday's contest, Kevon Looney should see extra run.

Warriors' David West: Out Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West will not play in Tuesday's tilt against the Knicks due to right arm cyst.

West was not on the injury report heading into the evening, so the issue is likely relatively new. Both Kevon Looney and Jordan Bell figure to see some extra run providing depth in the frontcourt as a result of his absence. Consider him day-to-day heading into Thursday's game against the Spurs.

Warriors' David West: Paces bench in scoring Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West racked up 10 points (4-4 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in Thursday's 134-127 win over the Clippers.

West led the Warriors' reserves in scoring, an increasingly common occurrence of late. The veteran big man has scored in double digits in three of the last five games, and he's shot no less than 60.0 percent in the last six contests. While his minutes don't exceed the teens, West's ability to often maximize them while also providing solid returns on the glass continue to give him some utility in deep formats and as a DFS punt play.

Warriors' David West: Productive with modest playing time Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West totaled 13 points (6-6 FG, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block across 17 minutes in Saturday's 122-105 win over the Spurs.

West was a source of efficient offense off the Warriors' second unit for the third straight game, a span during which he's shot 82.4 percent (14-for-17). The veteran big man still isn't seeing more than 17 minutes on average, but he's proven aptly capable of offering strong production in both scoring and rebounds relative to that level of playing time. His fantasy value primarily remains limited to very deep formats, but he's also increasingly viable as a DFS punt play despite the capped minutes.

Warriors' David West: Productive in limited bench minutes Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West scored 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT) while adding seven rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block in 17 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 121-103 win over the Mavericks.

The assists were a season high for West, who has also recorded at least one steal and one block in four straight games. The veteran forward's workload hasn't crept up to even 20 minutes since early December, putting a very firm cap on his fantasy ceiling, but he's still finding a way to contribute in his limited minutes.

Warriors' David West: Available Thursday vs. Dallas
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West (calf) is available to play in Thursday's game against the Mavericks.

As expected, West's presence on the injury report with a calf issue was just precautionary, and the veteran big man is all good to go for Thursday's outing with the Mavericks.

Warriors' David West: Probable for Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

West is listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Mavericks with right calf tension.

West apparently picked up the issue during Tuesday's loss to the Thunder, though it's thought to be a minor issue and he's expected to be good to go for Thursday's clash. Look for his status for clear up closer to tipoff. The 37-year-old is averaging 7.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 13.4 minutes per game this season.
