Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Puts up 13 points in Game 3 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith generated 13 points (5-14 FG, 3-10 3Pt), four rebounds and three steals across 33 minutes during Cleveland's 110-102 loss to the Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.

Smith was far from sharp from the field, but a trio of three-pointers helped prop up his final scoring haul significantly. The embattled veteran has now scored in double digits in two of the first three games of the series, and in three of his past four postseason games overall. However, he's now shot under 40.0 percent in 10 straight contests as well, making his game-to-game production highly volatile. Smith will look to boost his overall numbers when the Cavaliers try to stave off elimination in Friday's Game 4.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Struggles from field again in Game 2 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith registered five points (2-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two assists, one rebound and two steals across 31 minutes during Cleveland's 122-103 loss to the Warriors in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday.

One game after his infamous gaffe in the closing seconds of regulation, Smith failed to atone for his mistake with any appreciable contributions. He struggled from the field for the ninth consecutive postseason contest, a stretch during which he's shot no better than 37.5 percent in any one outing. Smith is only draining 26.3 percent of his 9.5 shot attempts per game over the first two installments of the series against the Warriors, a figure that he'll look to significantly boost when the Cavaliers attempt to get on the board in the series during Wednesday's Game 3.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Game awareness issues the story for Smith
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith tallied 10 points (3-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes during Thursday's 124-114 loss to Golden State.

Smith was able to pull down a crucial offensive board in the dying seconds of regulation but in a moment of madness, decided to dribble the ball out rather than looking for his shot or a teammate with the scores tied. For whatever reason, this will be seen as the moment the Cavaliers lost the game, and given the Warriors perceived dominance, perhaps the series. Smith continues to struggle with his shot but luckily for him, the bench is not playing any better, all but guaranteeing him a spot in the starting lineup no matter the result.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Hits rock bottom in Game Two loss Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith failed to score while adding just three rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 107-94 loss to Boston.

Smith was terrible Tuesday, missing all seven of his field-goal attempts while also picking up both a flagrant and technical foul late in the fourth quarter. The fact he played 27 minutes while offering so little to the team is a good indication of the lack of depth on the Cavaliers roster. He will need to bounce back on Saturday if the Cavaliers are to win Game Three and make the series interesting.

Cavaliers' J.R. Smith: Shooting struggles return in Game 1 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith netted only four points (2-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt) and added one rebound, one assist and one steal across 29 minutes during Cleveland's 108-83 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Sunday.

The veteran wing had shot a blistering 63.0 percent over four games against the Raptors in the semifinal round, so Sunday's struggles marked a resurfacing of his previous issues with his accuracy. Smith often struggles to offer much outside of the scoring column, so he's bound to generate forgettable, one-dimensional stat lines the likes of Sunday's when he can't his shot to fall. He'll look to bounce back when the Cavaliers attempt to even the series in Tuesday's Game 2.
