Draft Scouting Report:

Rating: 68.62 (Role player)

Pro Comparison: Jalen Jelks

Strengths:

Barno had just three sacks in 2021 (down from six in '20), though he had 22 hurries and the quickness that flashed on tape was backed up by his blistering 4.36 40 time at the combine. He has the speed and athleticism to spy the quarterback, even vs. today's mobile NFL QBs, and his non-stop motor leads to hustle sacks and tackles for loss. At times he's as much in space than as an edge rusher, and he shows the innate ability to find the football and be disruptive when not asked to take on offensive tackles.

Weaknesses:

He'll need to get stronger to take on NFL offensive tackles; his bull rush won't be enough to win reps at the next level. He doesn't consistently disengage from blocks once offensive tackles get their hands on him. He doesn't show much wiggle or twitchiness off the snap, and at times he doesn't look particularly bendy, though again, there is no disputing his straight-line speed.

Accolades:

  • 2020: Honorable mention All-ACC
  • 2020: Led all Power 5 players and ranked third in FBS with ACC-high 16.0 TFL
