Buccaneers linebacker Danny Lansanah (ankle) was upgraded to limited participation in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lansanah had racked up a team-high five stops against the Titans in the opener before the injury, and is being counted as a key component of Lovie Smith's defense at strong-side linebacker. With Bruce Carter also exiting Sunday's game after taking a helmet to the ribs on the opening kickoff, the Bucs currently find themselves thin at the position.

Although Carter is listed as probable for Sunday, the team would ideally like to see Lansanah, who wrested the starting job from him late in the preseason, take the field in Week 2 against the Saints.
