There's a new pass rusher in Kansas City, and while he hasn't had the most successful career as of yet, the Chiefs might be the franchise that can help turn him into the first-round talent many thought he was coming into the NFL. The Chiefs signed Taco Charlton earlier this month after he was released by the Miami Dolphins, and he will be playing for his third team in four years. Charlton reunites with his former college teammate Frank Clark, who took to Twitter promising that he would turn his friend into a "legend."

Clark earned his first Pro Bowl selection last season after tallying eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and an interception in 14 regular season games. Recently, he spoke to reporters about the relationship he has with Charlton and doubled down on his desire to turn him into a legitimate star

Here's what he said, via USAToday.com:

"I feel like a lot of people are doubting Taco, and for the first part of his career, it hasn't been to the standard that I'm sure he would want it to be. He's had some great highlights and he's done some good things in this league, but he has yet to do what I know he wants to do. Me and him being close friends we have a lot of talks and we talk about a lot of things and he's been my bro since Michigan days. I spent a significant amount of time with him there. Actually, I call myself a leader and everything I've done. At Michigan, I made a lot of mistakes but on that football field, I did my share of leading those guys. One thing I did in that position room was changed the way the position was being played, the rush in, and Taco followed suit. He listens and he does great things. I'm just excited. I'm excited to see what he's going to do. Like I said, I want to turn him into a legend. First, just show him my work ethic. Show him how we do things with the Chiefs. It's a certain standard that Coach Reid has us mounted to. There are certain things that you have to be able to live up to here. We're the champs. We're defending our ring and there's going to be some standards that he has to live up to coming into that room."

Charlton was originally drafted with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He showed promise during his senior season at Michigan by recording 10 sacks. Charlton spent the majority of his time in Dallas as DeMarcus Lawrence's backup and eventually his spot on the roster came into question. Two weeks into the 2019 season, the Cowboys made the decision to release him after failing to find a trade partner.

In 27 games with the Cowboys, Charlton recorded 46 combined tackles and just four sacks. Charlton played in just 10 games for the Dolphins last season, but finished as Miami's sack leader with five. Now that Emmanuel Ogbah is a Dolphin, Charlton has a chance to break into the Chiefs' defensive line rotation. He will have to outperform Alex Okafor and Tanoh Kpassagnon, however.
