Pro Football Hall of Fame won't give ring or jacket to Ken Stabler's family
Not everyone gets a gold jacket
After being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, every player gets a ring and a gold jacket following their enshrinement. As it turns out though, not everyone actually gets those perks.
According to Kendra Stabler Moyes, the daughter of former Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler, the Hall doesn't give a ring or a jacket to a player's family if the player has passed away before his induction.
The fact that Stabler's not getting a ring or a jacket became a controversy this week after the HOF sent out a tweet celebrating the fact that several Bears' players would soon be getting their rings.

After seeing the tweet, someone on Twitter wanted to know if Stabler's family would get his because, presumably, there are a lot of Raiders fans who didn't make it to Canton for the enshrinement but would still like to celebrate Stabler's accomplishments.
@ProFootballHOF@ChicagoBears@KayJewelers@ESPNMondayNight When and where is Kenny Stabler's family going to receive his ring?

That's when Kendra let everyone know that the Stablers won't be getting a ring or a jacket.
@JimRoss93366948@ProFootballHOF@ChicagoBears@KayJewelers@ESPNMondayNight sadly, my Dad does not get a ring.

Yes, seriously. No jacket, no ring. My Dad deserves it, dead or alive! He gave so much to the game we all love. https://t.co/bpHRsPcyPD

Kendra and her family even offered to buy the ring and jacket, but Pro Football Hall of Fame executive director, David Baker, shot them down.
Very kind of you. Our family actually asked Mr. Baker if we could buy them. Answer was: NO! Excuse: Doesn't want families selling/fighting https://t.co/RnqelXY7RZ

Ironically, that reasoning actually makes zero sense because if that's what Baker truly believes, then the Hall shouldn't hand out a jacket or a ring to anyone. Every Hall of Famer is going to pass away at some point, which means a family could conceivably fight or sell the objects after the person dies and you'd be in the same situation.
Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio took to Twitter to voice his displeasure.
😡Do the right thing !! #NFL#HOFhttps://t.co/q3M7L8x2Og

Former Raiders CEO Amy Trask, who worked in the organization for over 25 years, is also extremely perturbed with the Hall of Fame right now. Trask, who currently works for CBS, is livid that the Stabler family won't be getting a ring or jacket.
"This makes no sense -- it's petty -- no good reason not to give these to the families of players inducted posthumously -- fix this please," Trask wrote on Twitter. "It's stunningly thoughtless to families of those who may have compromised their health to play. It's simply dumb."
Stabler, who led the Raiders to five straight AFC title games and won a Super Bowl in Oakland, passed away in July 2015 -- just 13 months before he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
