Redskins coach Mike Shanahan ruled out five players for Thursday’s preseason opener vs. Buffalo, and a sixth player may also miss the game.
RB Tim Hightower (knee), WR Anthony Armstrong (shoulder), FB Darrel Young (hamstring), LG Kory Lichtensteiger (knee) and RT Jammal Brown (hips) will not play vs. the Bills. RG Chris Chester (ankle) is a “longshot” according to coach Mike Shanahan.
Shanahan also said that RB Evan Royster will start at running back ahead of Roy Helu. Graham Gano will get the first attempt at field goal duties ahead of Neil Rackers.
If Chester doesn't play, the Redskins' starting offensive line will include three backups: LG Maurice Hurt, RT Tyler Polumbus and rookie RG Adam Gettis.
