The Patriots won't pick up the $20 million option on cornerback Darrelle Revis, making him a free agent Tuesday, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Exercising the option would have required New England to take a $25 million cap hit.

The Patriots will continue to negotiate with Revis in hopes of re-signing him, reports Yahoo Sports. "They are not done talking, they're still working it," that report said.

The Jets are reportedly interested in bringing Revis back to New York, where he spent his first six seasons. Revis had 14 passes defensed and two interceptions with New England last year.
