Two important things to know about the Patriots' Rob Gronkowski right now. One: he's back to practice. Two, he explained how he chose to attend Arizona despite 65 different scholarship offers.

Theoretically the most important of the two pieces of information is Gronk returning to practice.

You know who was happy to see him? Give you one guess. OK, two.

This is huge news for the Patriots, with the offense faltering greatly without Gronk in the fold. No new news there, as Tom Brady's traditionally been much worse when Gronk's not on the field.

Perfectly fine for that to be the case; it always helps to have the guy who might very well be the greatest tight end of all time on the field.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: in a recent Vanity Fair interview, we learned how Gronk ended up choosing to go to college at Arizona.

He had, according to his dad Gordy, 65 scholarship offers on the table. But he only had eyes for one place and for one reason: pool parties.

Rob had something like 65 scholarship offers, and I asked, “Where are you going? Syracuse? Ohio State?” He goes, “University of Arizona.” I asked, “Why there?” “Dad, if you ever went to a pool party at Arizona, you’d understand.

Now would be the point in time to note this is the most Gronk thing of all time, but really everything Gronk does is the most Gronk thing of all time.

Including slip-n-slide parties at Arizona.

“We would invite all the hot athletic and sorority girls over then take dishwashing liquid and squirt it all over the floor to get it slippery. We would then squirt it all over ourselves to get lubed up then throw water all over the place. The name of the game was to make it from door to door sliding on your chest,” he wrote. “Somebody was always naked and the girls loved it when our underwear slid off."

Him picking Arizona because there are great pool parties there just feels like the appropriate logic.

Gronk is back. (USATSI)
