Despite there being a whole host of games -- NFL and otherwise -- played on Sunday, the sports world spent much of the day mourning the passing of ESPN's Stuart Scott at the age of 49. Everyone from the President of the United States on down weighed in with their own thoughts and feelings on Scott and what he meant to them.

ESPN produced a 15-minute video tribute to Scott's life and legacy that aired shortly after his passing was announced on Sports Center. That tribute has aired multiple times throughout the day. According to Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch, it was conceived and produced in the few months following Scott's emotional speech at the July 2014 ESPY's.

ESPN's Hannah Storm was given the unenviable task of announcing Scott's passing live on air, and she -- clearly overcome with emotion -- did a wonderful job paying tribute to his life and career in a concise manner:

Rich Eisen, now with NFL Network, was Scott's longtime co-anchor on Sports Center, delivered a heartfelt remembrance of his own on Sunday morning.

On Sunday evening, in honor of his friend, Eisen tried to squeeze as many of Scott's catchphrases as possible into a Colts-Bengals highlight package, all while his NFL Network co-anchors giddily cheered him on in the background.

Among the Scott catchphrases Eisen used:

  • Everybody "better recognize"
  • "Like a man smoking at a gas station, he was about to blow up"
  • "Getting his mack and his vibe and his swerve on"
  • Dan Herron "is straight butter"
  • Rex Burkhead "breaks off something proper"
  • "As cool as the other side of the pillow"
  • "Can I get a witness from the congregation?"
  • "Boo-yah!"
  • "It's your world kid, and the rest of us are just still paying rent"
  • "You ain't got to go home, but you got to get the heck up outta here"
