  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Five stops in start

Minter totaled five tackles (three solo) in the Buccaneers' 28-24 win over the Jets in Week 17. Minter played on 93 percent of the defensive snaps (57) during the narrow win, checking in tied for second in tackles with cornerback Pierre Desir. The veteran has posted five stops apiece in each of the last two games while helping prop up the Buccaneers' depleted linebacker corps, and he could be in for another expanded role Week 18 versus the Panthers.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Notches sack in start

Minter totaled five tackles (four solo), including a sack, during the Buccaneers' 32-6 win over the Panthers in Week 16. Minter's inclusion into the starting lineup in place of Lavonte David (IR-foot) was largely a success, with the veteran linebacker logging his second-highest snap count of the campaign and recording his first sack along the way. The 31-year-old could continue to serve as a solid IDP option over the final two games of the regular season with matchups against the mistake-prone Jets and Panthers offenses on tap.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Likely bound for starting role

Minter is expected to move into a starting role at inside linebacker Sunday against the Panthers following Lavonte David's (foot) placement on injured reserve, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Minter has typically seen most of his action on special teams this season while serving as the No. 3 inside linebacker behind Devin White and David, who rarely leaves the field on defense when healthy. Tampa Bay could rotate multiple players alongside White while David is out, but Minter projects to see the overwhelming share of the vacated snaps, which should translate to plenty of opportunities to record tackles.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Cleared from COVID list

Minter was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday. Minter was forced to miss the team's Week 3 loss to the Rams while on the reserve list. In the Buccaneers' first two contests, Minter played exclusively on special teams and recorded a combined two tackles. He should be set for a similar role moving forward.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Lands on COVID list

The Buccaneers placed Minter on the reserve/COVID 19 list Monday, Scott Smith of the team's official website reports. Minter will not count against the Bucs' 53-man roster while he is sidelined. To go along with his special-teams contributions, he is the primary reserve behind starting linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White. If he ultimately misses Week 3, look for K.J. Britt to serve as the primary depth at inside linebacker.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Lands on COVID-19 list

Minter was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Minter either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person. If he's merely a close contact, Minter will be available for Sunday's playoff matchup against the Saints as long as he continues to test negative. Minter's role will drop off significantly regardless, as Devin White will return to this lineup this week.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Racks up production in spot start

Minter totaled nine tackles (five solo), including two for loss, and one pass defensed in the Buccaneers' 55-40 win over the Rams on Sunday. Minter drew a second consecutive start for Devin White (knee) and excelled, co-leading the team in tackles and equaling a season high in the process. The veteran LSU product doesn't slot in as a starter when White is healthy, so despite his strong production on the first-team defense against the Rams, Minter doesn't quite carry the IDP value over the long term that his Week 4 numbers would imply.

  • Buccaneers' Kevin Minter: Placed on IR

Minter (calf) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Minter suffered a calf injury during Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Saints. With the depth linebacker now sidelined, Cameron Lynch and Riley Bullough could be in line for increased offensive snaps. Tight end Tanner Hudson takes Minter's spot on the 53-man roster.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Full practice Wednesday

Minter (elbow) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Minter's missed the past four games with an elbow injury, so his full participation Wednesday is a significant development. He seems in line to play Sunday against the Browns and take back a starting role at middle linebacker.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Out for Sunday's game

Minter (elbow) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. Minter will miss his third consecutive game Sunday, but the middle linebacker has been limited in his defensive snaps all season anyhow. Expect Hardy Nickerson and Vincent Rey to pick up the snaps left over in Minter's absence.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Minter (elbow) sat out of Wednesday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Minter left Week 7's matchup with the Steelers early and didn't return, so staying on the sidelines Wednesday isn't a great sign. The LSU product hasn't accumulated more than five tackles in a game yet this season, though, so even if he suits up his fantasy floor remains low. Undrafted rookie Hardy Nickerson will fill in at middle linebacker if Minter can't play in Week 8 against the Colts.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Records 10 tackles in loss

Minter had ten tackles during Sunday's loss to Baltimore. Minter entered the week with an undisclosed injury but it seems like that's now in the rear-view mirror.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Absent from practice Thursday

Minter did not participate in Thursday's practice for an undisclosed reason, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. This is the second straight practice that Minter has missed, and the reasons surrounding his absence are yet to be reported. Minter is expected to play a large role at linebacker in the Bengals defense this season after playing in all 16 games with the Cardinals in back-to-back years.

  • Bengals' Kevin Minter: Inks one-year deal with Bengals

Minter signed a one-year contract with the Bengals on Saturday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. Minter was a reliable cog in the Cardinals' linebacking corps for the first four years of his career and played at least 88 percent of the defensive snaps for them in each of the last two years. He's a sound tackler that'll be a welcome addition to the Begals' linebacking corps. It will be worth monitoring how Minter's addition affects the Bengals' approach in the draft, as many experts alluded to the possibility of Cincinnati targeting a linebacker in the early rounds.

  • Cardinals' Kevin Minter: Picks up two tackles for loss Sunday

Minter posted seven tackles (six solo), including two tackles for loss, in Sunday's tie with the Seahawks. With 5.3 tackles per game, Minter is behind last season's pace (5.9 per) but has put together a more well-rounded game log to date. He's already surpassed his sack total entering the campaign, racking up 2.5 to bring his career total to four. Moreover, he's tacked on four tackles for loss, including a stop of Christine Michael for minus-five yards Sunday to push the Seahawks to third and 25 early in the fourth quarter. On the year, the starting ILB pair of Minter and Deone Bucannon have held down the fort in the middle of the Cardinals' defense, helping to keep opponents out of the end zone for nine consecutive quarters.

  • Cardinals' Kevin Minter: Clearance could come Tuesday

Minter (concussion) is anticipated by coach Bruce Arians to clear concussion protocol Tuesday, Kent Somers of AZCentral.com reports. Minter landed in the league's protocol after suffering a concussion last Thursday versus the 49ers, but his condition was initially described as "very mild", somewhat explaining his expected quick recovery. With the Cardinals' next game not until next Monday, Minter seemingly stands a good chance of not missing any action due to the issue.

  • Cardinals' Kevin Minter: Will play Sunday

Minter (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Minter was limited in practice earlier in the week as a result of an ankle injury, but returned to the field for Friday's practice session. The linebacker is expected to to start on Sunday, but his reps could be monitored heavily.

  • Cardinals' Kevin Minter: Racks up career-best nine tackles

Minter racked up a career-best nine tackles (seven solo), including two tackles for loss, and one pass defended in Sunday's win in Detroit. Entering the contest, Minter was one of two Cardinal linebackers to earn 50 percent of the defensive snaps, gathering up 87 percent. The other (Alex Okafor) strained his calf Sunday and is expected to miss a month of action, and while he's unlikely to earn much more work with Okafor out of commission, Minter could be presented with a few more tackle opportunities per game. Nonetheless, Minter's 96-tackle pace after five outings is off the IDP radar, as he's displayed no pass-rushing acumen nor a nose for turnovers in his two-plus years as a pro.

  • Cardinals GM: Kevin Minter has 'to step up his game'

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said Wedneday that the team "needs to address" the linebacker position in this year's draft, adding that 2013 second-round pick Kevin Minter has to elevate his game, The Times-Picayune reports. "We drafted Kevin Minter in the second round a few years back and we have high expectations for Kevin," Keim said Wednesday. "But he's got to step up his game. There are two types of linebackers. There are the mike linebackers, the heavy-legged guys, the more downhill thumper types. Then you have the more athletic, will linebacker types who can run and cover and may not be as physical at the point of attack. Those are two necessary positions for us that we need to address." Minter recorded 45 tackles in 2014 while making five starts in his 16 appearances. Coach Bruce Arians also addressed the linebacker Thursday, saying that the team needs to "continue to develop Kevin Minter into a better player."
