Roby was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Roby was believed to be competing with Alontae Taylor for the team's slot corner role, but ultimately he won't even make the final 53-man roster. The veteran corner will now have to find a new team if he plans to play a 10th NFL season.... See More ... See Less

Saints' Bradley Roby: Eight stops Monday
Roby recorded eight tackles (six solo) and one pass defended during Monday's 17-16 defeat versus the Buccaneers. Roby managed to suit up Week 13 after sustaining a concussion in New Orleans' Week 12 loss to the 49ers, and he recorded a season high in tackles versus Tampa Bay. The 30-year-old also continued to play nearly every defensive snap alongside starting cornerbacks Paulson Adebo and Alontae Taylor, as top cover man Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) remained out for the eighth game in a row. It's possible Roby's playing time could take a hit if Lattimore is able to return following the Saints' Week 14 bye.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Bradley Roby: Getting concussion check
Roby was examined for a head injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss at San Francisco, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Roby was making his first appearance since Week 7 after spending four games on IR due to an ankle injury. Before his exit from the contest, he rotated with Paulson Adebo at cornerback, finishing with two tackles to Adebo's six. Now with a potential concussion diagnosis imminent, Roby is in danger of missing even more time.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Bradley Roby: Comes off IR
The Saints reinstated Roby (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday. Roby is expected to be active for Sunday's game against the 49ers, and his return should provide a nice boost to a New Orleans secondary that will likely be without No. 1 cornerback Marshon Lattimore (abdomen), who is listed as questionable but appears on track to miss a seventh consecutive game. Before landing on IR on Oct. 25 with an ankle injury, Roby totaled 20 tackles and two pass breakups in seven appearances for New Orleans.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Bradley Roby: Designated to return from IR
New Orleans designated Roby (ankle) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Roby hit IR on Oct. 25 after injuring his ankle in Week 7 against Arizona. He's sat out the mandatory four games, and the Saints now have a 21-day window to activate him. Prior to landing on IR, Roby played in seven games and tallied 20 tackles (16 solo), two pass defenses and a recovered fumble.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Bradley Roby: Lands on IR
Roby (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Roby landed on the team's IR list Tuesday, after he departed Thursday's contest versus the Cardinals with an ankle injury and ultimately failed to return. While the severity of the 194-pounder's injury has yet to be revealed, he'll now miss at least the next four games and won't be eligible to return until the Week 12 matchup against San Fransisco. Fellow defensive back P.J. Williams is also currently on IR with a quadriceps injury, while Paulson Adebo (knee) and Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) remain questionable for Sunday's contest in Las Vegas, leaving New Orleans with Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson as the team's only healthy cornerbacks at the moment.... Saints' Bradley Roby: Won't return Thursday
Roby (ankle) was ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's game against the Cardinals. Roby recorded one tackle before exiting with an ankle injury in the first quarter, and his absence will leave New Orleans' secondary severely undermanned with starting cornerbacks Paulson Adebo (knee) and Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) already inactive. As a result, expect Alontae Taylor, Chris Harris, and Bryce Thompson to step into larger roles against Arizona. Roby's next opportunity to play will come against the Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 30.... Saints' Bradley Roby: Won't play Sunday
Roby (shoulder) is out Sunday against the Panthers, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports. Roby was unable to practice Friday with the injury. Roby's absence will weaken the Saints' secondary depth against the Panthers on Sunday, and likely create extra snaps for Ken Crawley and Bryce Thompson.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Shut down for season
Roby has been suspended for the next six games after testing positive for a banned substance, James Palmer of NFL Network reports. Roby explained in a public statement that he unknowingly used a product that was contaminated with a banned substance by the NFL, causing the six-game suspension. Phillip Gaines and Vernon Hargreaves should be asked to step up in Roby's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Expected to return Week 10
Coach Romeo Crennel said Roby likely will play in the Week 10 matchup against the Browns, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports. Roby didn't suit up in Sunday's win over the Jaguars due to disciplinary reasons, but it appears that will be the extent of his punishment. Houston's secondary was clearly out of sorts Sunday, allowing rookie quarterback Jake Luton to throw for 304 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception in his NFL debut. Roby should be a boost, as he's yielded just 5.0 yards per target this season.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Reason for absence surfaces
Roby won't play in Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to disciplinary reasons, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. It was reported Saturday that Roby wouldn't be traveling for the game for unspecified reasons, as the cornerback appears to have upset the coaching staff. With quarterback Gardner Minshew (thumb) sidelined for the contest, Jacksonville is expected to turn to 2020 sixth-round pick Jake Luton. On defense for Houston, Vernon Hargreaves and Phillip Gaines will be responsible for covering Jacksonville's DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Won't play against Jaguars
Roby (undisclosed) didn't travel with the team and won't play in Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. This isn't related to an injury or COVID-19, but the team didn't reveal any further details about why Roby won't play against the divisional opponent. The 28-year-old is Houston's best cornerback, so now Vernon Hargreaves and Phillip Gaines will be responsible for covering DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault, who will be catching balls from rookie Jake Luton. The team likely will clarify Roby's situation in the upcoming week.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Makes first pick
Roby had seven tackles, an interception and two passes defensed in Sunday's 42-36 overtime loss to the Titans. Roby's pick midway through the fourth quarter led to Houston's final score, which gave the Texans a 36-29 lead with 1:50 left, but the defense was unable to hold it. The interception was Roby's first of the season. He's been the best of a weak secondary, leading the unit with a 72.2 coverage grade and 68.9 overall defensive grade, per Pro Football Focus.... Texans' Bradley Roby: Finishes first season in Texas
Roby had 38 tackles, one sack, eight passes defensed, two interceptions, one touchdown and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2019. Roby posted respectable numbers in his first season in Houston, but the defense overall stumbled. Per Pro Football Focus, Roby graded out highest among Houston's secondary, a unit that PFF graded 28th in the NFL. The six-year veteran enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, and the Texans are expected to overhaul the back line of the defense.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Draws questionable tag
Roby (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's playoff contest against the Bills. Roby has logged a trio of limited practices, which is a good sign for his availability after missing Week 17's regular-season finale against the Titans. The 2014 first-round pick appears to be trending in the right direction to suit up when the Texans host Buffalo on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Limited in Tuesday's practice
Roby (hamstring) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice. Roby missed the season finale against the Titans after popping up on the injury report last Thursday. His injury was initially considered minor, so it's a positive sign that he's still on the practice field, albeit in a limited fashion. Roby has two more practices to get to full speed before Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against the Bills.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Pops up on injury report
Roby was limited in practice Thursday with a hamstring injury. Roby has dealt with hamstring issues much of the season, so it is unknown if this is a new one or possibly just a maintenance day. His status after Friday's practice will be telling.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Aiming to return Sunday
Roby (hamstring) is trending toward suiting up for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, James Palmer of NFL Network reports. Roby hasn't played since Week 6, but he was considered a game-time decision for Week 12's game against the Colts. The 2014 first-rounder worked in a limited practice capacity for the last two weeks, and he hopes to elevate to full participation by Friday. Roby has allowed 6.5 yards per target this year, so he'll look to help shut down the Patriots' strong passing attack.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Unable to make trip
Roby (hamstring) did not travel with the team to Baltimore and has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's Week 11 contest. Both Roby and wide receiver Will Fuller (hamstring) managed to participate on a limited basis at practice all week, but ultimately weren't healthy enough to make the trip to Baltimore. Gareon Conley and Lonnie Johnson are likely options to replace Roby in the starting lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Bradley Roby: Trending in wrong direction
Roby (hamstring) is not expected to play in Sunday's game against Oakland, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Roby was previously expected to be out until at least Week 10 following the team's bye week, so this news isn't quite surprising. There is still a chance Roby can return next week against Jacksonville, especially considering he logged limited practice time this past week. If this news holds, recently acquired cornerback Gareon Conley would be in line to start against his former team.... See More ... See Less
