    Smith and the Lions agreed to a contract Monday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports. Smith suffered a significant neck injury in October of last season and proceeded to stay on the practice-squad injured list for the remainder of the campaign. The 25-year-old now will be back in Detroit for 2023 and look to carve out a role in the secondary on the active roster.

    Smith was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury sustained during Sunday's game against the Patriots. Smith went down awkwardly after contacting tight end Hunter Henry at the line of scrimmage on the first play of Sunday's game, per Michael Giardi of NFL Network. The 24-year-old had to be loaded into an ambulance on the field, and the exact nature and severity of this injury should become clear following further evaluation.

    The Cowboys placed Smith (hand) on the practice squad injured list Saturday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Smith suffered a fractured hand during last weekend's win over the Bengals, and he'll now be forced to spend the remainder of the regular season on IR. He appeared in six games with the Cowboys this season, doing most of his damage on special teams while also logging three tackles (two solo) on defense.
