Nixon is a 2021 seventh-round pick, so he seems a likely candidate to rejoin the Patriots via the practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers. He spent his entire rookie campaign on the practice squad without making an appearance on the active roster.

The Patriots signed Nixon to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Nixon joined the Patriots' practice squad at the beginning of September after failing to land a spot on their 53-man roster. He didn't join the active roster during the 2021 campaign but will remain with the organization heading into the offseason.
