  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Activated from IR

The Chiefs activated Johnson (shoulder) from injured reserve Wednesday. Johnson opened the regular season on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury he sustained in a preseason game in August, but his activation from IR puts him on track to make his 2025 regular-season debut against the Broncos on Thursday. The 2022 seventh-rounder could step into a prominent role in the Chiefs' secondary for the final two games of the regular season, given that Trent McDuffie (knee) and Jaylen Watson (groin) were both placed on injured reserve.

  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Ruled out for Sunday

Johnson (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans. Johnson was ruled out despite logging three consecutive full practices this week. The cornerback has not yet returned from IR, where he has resided since Aug. 27. It is worth considering that Johnson is ready to return, but the Chiefs do not currently feel comfortable allocating roster space to the cornerback. As of now, the 27-year-old will remain on IR and will look towards Week 17 against the Broncos as a potential return game.

  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Resumes practicing

The Chiefs announced Wednesday that Johnson (shoulder) had his practice window opened to return from IR.. Johnson has missed the entire regular season thus far due to a shoulder injury sustained during Kansas City's second preseason contest. Now, he'll have a 21-day window to resume practicing without counting against the 53-man roster, wherein he can be activated at any time. If Johnson manages to return to action this season, he'll stand to handle a rotational role on defense.

  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Moves to IR, designated to return

Johnson (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a designation to return. Johnson suffered a shoulder injury in the Chiefs' second preseason game against the Seahawks. By being placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, the 27-year-old cornerback will be required to miss at least the first four games of the 2025 campaign. Johnson will likely return to his rotational role in Kansas City's defensive backfield once he's healthy.

  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Back with Kansas City

The Chiefs re-signed Johnson on Thursday. Johnson, a 2022 seventh-round pick, appeared in 16 regular-season games with Kansas City in 2024, logging six starts and totaling 56 tackles (33 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and three pass breakups. His re-signing primes Johnson to reprise a familiar rotational role on defense, while also remaining a key contributor on special teams.

Across seven regular-season games, Johnson has logged 14 tackles (six solo).

  • Chiefs' Nazeeh Johnson: Ready for Week 1

Johnson (hamstring) was listed as a full participant during practice Monday and is not on the injury report for Thursday's game against the Ravens, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Johnson nursed a hamstring injury during training camp while also continuing his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last season. The Marshall product hasn't suited up since 2022, when he appeared in 11 regular-season games and only contributed on special teams. Head coach Andy Reid said Sunday that Johnson did not suit up in pads Sunday after tweaking his right knee, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. It's the same knee for which Johnson underwent surgery for a torn ACL in July 2023. Johnson's health during training camp will play a big part in whether he can earn a starting spot at corner, a role that was vacated after the Chiefs traded L'Jarius Sneed to the Titans in March. Johnson played in 11 regular-season games in his rookie campaign in 2022, registering eight tackles (five solo) while playing 96 snaps on special teams.
