  • Jets' Junior Bergen: Heads to New York

The Jets signed Bergen to a contract Wednesday, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports. Bergen was waived by the 49ers last Wednesday and was able to clear waivers. The second-year wide receiver has not yet appeared in a regular-season game. The Jets waived/injured wide receiver DT Sheffield (undisclosed) in a corresponding move.

  • Junior Bergen: Gets cut Wednesday

San Francisco waived Bergen on Wednesday. Bergen signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers back in January, but the team is now parting ways with him. He's on track to become a free agent unless he's claimed by another club during the current waiver period.

  • 49ers' Junior Bergen: Sticking around in Bay Area

Bergen signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers on Tuesday. Bergen was the 49ers' seventh-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. By signing a future deal, Bergen will be eligible to participate in offseason programs with the 49ers, including OTAs and minicamp.

  • Junior Bergen: Sticks with SF on practice squad

Bergen signed with San Francisco's practice squad Wednesday. Bergen was selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the 49ers out of Montana but failed to make San Francisco's initial 53-man roster. He didn't garner any interest on waivers and thus remains in the organization. Bergen could be a candidate for a promotion to the roster early in the season depending on the health of San Francisco's various injured wide receivers.

  • Junior Bergen: Shuffles to waivers

The 49ers waived Bergen on Tuesday. A rookie seventh-round pick, Bergen was unable to secure a roster spot with the 49ers despite their injury-riddled receiver room. The Montana product was likely drafted for his returning abilities, as he returned eight punts and one kick return for touchdowns during college, but he didn't show enough during the preseason to secure a role. Bergen has a strong case for the practice squad if he clears waivers.
