  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Week 17 Waiver Priority List

Woody Marks (ankle) missed Week 16 against Las Vegas, and Jordan stepped up with 15 carries for 53 yards and five catches for 17 yards on five targets. He also had 17 total touches for 118 total yards in Week 15 against Arizona when Marks was first injured. We'll see what happens in Week 17 at the Chargers, which isn't an easy matchup, but if Marks is out again, then Jordan is worth using as a flex option in all leagues.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Leading rusher on 15 attempts

Jordan handled 15 carries for 53 yards while catching all five of his targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Raiders. Nick Chubb (6-33-0) got the start in place of Woody Marks (ankle) on Sunday, but it was Jordan who paced the Texans' backfield in touches and production in the win. Jordan was signed from the practice squad early in the week to help address the team's running-back situation. The 2024 sixth-round pick averaged under four yards per carry and failed to hit pay dirt, resulting in a pedestrian fantasy score. Marks was able to get in a limited practice before ultimately being ruled out for Week 16, so Jordan's run of relevance may last just one game if the former is able to suit up against the Chargers on Saturday.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Added to roster

The Texans signed Jordan off their practice squad Tuesday. Houston still had the ability to elevate Jordan from the practice squad on two more occasions, but the Texans evidently didn't want to risk him getting poached by another team following his impressive showing in his NFL debut during Sunday's 40-20 win over the Cardinals. With Nick Chubb (ribs) inactive for the contest and with Woody Marks (ankle) missing the entire second half, Jordan stepped in and carried the ball 15 times for 101 yards to go with two receptions for 17 yards. Jordan should have at least a small role in the game plan in Week 16 against the Raiders if at least one of Chubb and Marks misses the contest, though head coach DeMeco Ryans already suggested Monday that Marks wasn't expected to miss additional time. If both Marks and Chubb are available, Jordan might be inactive for Week 16, since fellow depth backs Dare Ogunbowale and British Brooks are both core special-teams contributors.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Woody Marks (ankle) is expected to play in Week 16 against Las Vegas, and we'll see what happens with Nick Chubb (ribs), who missed Week 15 against Arizona. If both are out against the Raiders, then Jordan would likely start for the Texans, and he would be worth using as a low-end No. 2 running back or high-end flex in all leagues. Jordan filled in for Marks against the Cardinals and had 15 carries for 101 yards and two catches for 17 yards on two targets. Prior to Week 15, Jordan had been inactive in every game this season.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Tops century mark in rushing yards

Jordan carried the ball 15 times for 101 yards and caught both his targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 40-20 win over the Cardinals. Nick Chubb (ribs) was inactive, and Woody Marks picked up an ankle injury in the first quarter and didn't return in the second half, which left Jordan to handle the bulk of the work in the backfield to close out the rout. The 2024 sixth-round pick took full advantage of the first action of his NFL career with an outstanding performance. The score was 23-7 at halftime, which may have contributed to the decision to shut down Marks, and it's not clear yet how much time Chubb might need to miss. At the very least, Jordan showed he can be relied upon if needed, which could come as soon as Week 16 against the Raiders.

  • Jawhar Jordan: Back with Houston

The Texans signed Jordan to the practice squad Saturday. The Texans cut Jordan from the practice squad in late October, but the second-year pro has opted to return to Houston. He has yet to appear in a regular-season game since the Texans selected him in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

  • Jawhar Jordan: Out in Houston

Jordan was cut from the Texans' practice squad Wednesday. The 2024 sixth-round pick from Louisville landed with the Texans' practice squad after failing to make the initial 53-man roster in late August. However, the team has now decided to move in another direction. Jordan has yet to make his NFL debut after posting 1,374 total yards and 14 touchdowns on 202 touches during his final collegiate season in 2023.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Leads backs in preseason finale

Jordan had 13 carries for 55 yards in Saturday's 26-7 preseason win over the Lions. All of Jordan's work came during the second half of the preseason finale, which indicates the Texans are unlikely to grant him a spot on the initial 53-man roster. There may be an available spot if Joe Mixon (ankle) opens the regular season on the reserve/non-football injury list, but that opening could go to British Brooks, who brings versatility on special teams and an ability to play fullback.

  • Jawhar Jordan: Reaches injury settlement

The Texans waived Jordan (undisclosed) from injured reserve with a settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Jordan was selected by the Texans in the sixth round of the draft back in April but his tenure with the team has come to an end. The 25-year-old will focus on getting healthy and then look to catch on with another team.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Used as returner

Jordan logged three carries for five yards and returned one kickoff for 15 yards in Thursday's 21-17 preseason loss to Chicago. Houston's top two backs were held out of the game, giving Jordan, Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale opportunities to impress the coaching staff. Jordan also rotated in on the kickoff-return team with Steven Sims and Johnny Johnson. Ogunbowale is likely the leader among the three at running back given his experience in the system, but a return job could be winnable for Jordan.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Expected to play Thursday

Jordan and Dameon Pierce are expected to play extensively in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Bears, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans plans to sit several key starters, including lead back Joe Mixon, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Wilson adds that Jordan has had a string of good practices in which he's shown some skill as a pass-catching back. His background and feel for a zone-scheme rushing attack from his college days could push Pierce, who had difficulty adjusting to the offense in 2023, for the second spot on the depth chart.

  • Texans' Jawhar Jordan: Joins crowded Houston backfield

The Texans selected Jordan in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 205th overall. Jordan led Louisville in rushing yards last season (1,128) and compiled 13 touchdowns on the ground, but the running back will turn 25 at the start of the season and is very slight (5-foot-9, 193 pounds) for a ball carrier that doesn't have a ton of straight-line speed (4.53 40-yard dash). Jordan's vision and craftiness to set up blocks made him an explosive playmaker in college, but that sort of time won't be allotted to him at the professional level.
