Treyton Welch: Back with practice squad
Welch reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Welch was elevated to the active roster ahead Week 3, failing to record any stats while playing four snaps on offense and eight snaps with the special-teams unit in Sunday's 44-13 loss to Seattle. The tight end is eligible to be elevated two more times before the team would have to officially sign him to the active roster.

Welch spent the 2024 season on the Saints' practice squad and will stick around for another campaign. An undrafted free agent out of Wyoming, Welch wasn't super productive at college, and he caught six of seven targets for 65 yards during this preseason.

Welch exited Wednesday's practice early with an undisclosed injury, but he now appears to be back to full strength after a couple days of rest. The tight end spent the entirety of the 2024 campaign on the practice squad with New Orleans, and he will likely be limited to the same role if he sticks around with the Saints in 2025.

Saints' Treyton Welch: Exits Wednesday's practice
Welch (undisclosed) left Wednesday's training camp practice due to injury, John Sigler of USA Today reports.
The type and severity of the injury isn't clear, and the Saints won't provide an update on Welch until he undergoes further tests. The Wyoming product spent all of last season on the Saints' practice squad and is battling for a spot on the 53-man roster as a backup tight end.

Saints' Treyton Welch: Staying in New Orleans
New Orleans signed Welch to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Welch signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in May of 2024. He was unable to make Cleveland's 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he managed to sign to New Orleans' practice squad in late August where he spent the 2024 regular season. Welch will be with the Saints during OTAs and minicamp and will look to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2025 season during training camp.

Welch inked a deal with the Browns in May after going undrafted this past offseason, but the team has now decided to move in a different direction. The Wyoming product caught 31 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns during his final collegiate season.
