Redskins' Aaron Colvin: Re-ups in Washington
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Redskins re-signed Colvin on Thursday.

Colvin accrued 10 tackles and one defended pass across six games (two starts) for Washington in 2019. The 28-year-old figures to kick off the 2020 campaign in a depth role, but if he manages to make a good impression on new coach Ron Rivera it wouldn't be surprising for Colvin to get a shot to contribute more regularly.

Redskins' Aaron Colvin: Surprise scratch Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Detroit.

Colvin was expected to be active for the game while Josh Norman notched a healthy scratch, but the team had a change of heart. Colvin has played just five special teams snaps for the Redskins this season, so his absence won't affect the defense. The team will roll with Norman and Simeon Thomas as depth cornerbacks Sunday.

Redskins' Aaron Colvin: Reaches deal with Redskins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin signed a contract with the Redskins on Friday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.

The Redskins need reinforcements in the secondary with Quinton Dunbar (knee) deemed questionable and Fabian Moreau (ankle) listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys. Colvin brings plenty of experience to the table, as he was a strong slot corner for the Jaguars in 2017. However, he struggled with the Texans last season and was a liability in coverage for them Week 1 versus the Saints, leading to his release from the team. It's unclear what role Colvin will have on the Redskins' defense, but with so many injuries he may be immediately plugged into a starting role.

Aaron Colvin: Cut by Houston
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Texans released Colvin on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After an excellent season as the slot corner in a dominant Jaguars defense in 2017, Colvin landed a four-year, $34 million contract last March from the Texans, who were counting on him to be a linchpin in their secondary. He turned in a disappointing first season in Houston, struggling with injuries while contributing only one pass breakup in 10 games before he was a healthy inactive for the postseason loss to Indianapolis. Colvin didn't show much improved form in the Week 1 loss to the Saints, as his poor coverage contributed to two of New Orleans' second-half touchdowns. The poor effort was enough to convince the Texans to pull the plug on the 27-year-old, who will still take home $7.5 million in guaranteed money as he heads to the free-agent market. His departure likely paves the way for rookie second-round pick Lonnie Johnson to assume a more prominent role at cornerback.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Healthy to begin Week 12
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) is listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Colvin appears to have finally recovered from the lingering ankle injury which has caused him to miss six straight contests. The Texans did not actually practice Thursday, but the slot cornerback's designation as a full participant nonetheless indicates that he's trending towards a return to the field during Monday's game against the Titans.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Missing sixth straight game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins.

Coach Bill O'Brien upgraded Colvin to a game-time decision heading into the weekend but didn't offer much faith in Colvin's availability, as he relayed that the slot cornerback was, "a little further away" from playing than Johnathan Joseph (knee/ankle). Joseph ultimately gained clearance to play, but Colvin will be sidelined for a sixth straight contest while he continues to work back from a nagging ankle injury. If Colvin can practice fully at some point next week, he'll have a better chance at returning to action in the Texans' subsequent contest Nov. 26 against the Titans.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Questionable for Week 11
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Redskins.

Colvin hasn't seen game action since Week 4 but was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, leaving the door open for him to play this weekend. It seems likely, however, that he'll be inactive come Sunday, as coach Bill O'Brien said earlier Friday that Colvin is "a little further away" from playing than fellow cornerback Johnathan Joseph (knee), per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. Colvin will take over as the Texans' top slot corner whenever he's cleared to play again.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Limited Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Colvin has not suited up since Week 4 due to a lingering ankle injury but appears to have made real progress in his recovery during Houston's bye. If the 27-year-old is not able to return to the field Week 11, expect Michael Tyson to serve as the primary backup to starter Shareece Wright.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Ruled out Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) was downgraded from questionable to out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Colvin was a limited practice participant this week but won't make the trip to Denver with the team. The 27-year-old hasn't seen game action since Week 4 against the Colts as he continues to battle the ankle injury. Michael Tyson saw 61 defensive snaps last week against the Dolphins and could be heavily involved once again with starting cornerback Jonathan Joseph (knee) also listed as questionable.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Questionable for Week 9
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Broncos.

Colvin hasn't played since he logged 75 snaps on defense against the Colts in Week 4. The Oklahoma product practiced in a limited capacity all three days this week, which bodes well considering how long he's been sidelined by this injury. If the Texans decide to take a conservative approach, however, and leave Colvin on the sideline, Shareece Wright or Johnson Bademosi would likely continue to see Colvin's share of the work.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Limited in practice Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Colvin's participation in practice is a positive sign of his recovery progress, but the veteran cornerback remains a long shot for Sunday's game against the Broncos. It seems likely that the Texans will take a cautious approach to Colvin's recovery and target a return following the team's Week 10 bye.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Could return after bye week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Coach Bill O'Brien said that Colvin (ankle) could return after the Texans' bye week, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

Colvin remains sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained in Week 8, but he evidently has a shot of suiting up against the Redskins in Week 11. The veteran's timetable for return will ultimately be dictated by how well he recovers during Houston's bye week.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Ruled out for Thursday's game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) was ruled out for Thursday's game against the Dolphins.

It's no surprise Colvin is inactive for Week 8, as his ankle injury -- which he suffered in Week 4 -- could ultimately keep him out up to six weeks. With Shareece Wright (shoulder) also out, Johnson Bademosi could see an increased workload.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Extended absence likely
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (ankle) could be sidelined for at least six weeks, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Colvin suffered the injury during Houston's Week 4 win against the Colts, and was previously ruled out indefinitely Sunday. Head coach Bill O'Brien left the door open for Colvin's possible return later this season Monday, but this news sheds a little more light on his timetable. Expect Shareece Wright to take the bulk of snaps at cornerback with Colvin out.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Could return this season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Head coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that Colvin (ankle) could play again this season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Colvin suffered what is being considered a very serious ankle injury and has been ruled out indefinitely, but the Texans appear to be leaving the door open for the defensive back's return. It sounds like Colvin has a chance to return near the end of the regular season.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Out indefinitely
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin suffered an ankle injury during Houston's Week 4 overtime win against Indianapolis, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Colvin was on crutches following the game and will be out indefinitely. He becomes the second cornerback to be sidelined by injury -- Kevin Johnson suffered a concussion Week 1 -- and was replaced by Shareece Wright.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Downplays chest injury after loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin (chest) downplayed his injury following Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Giants, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Despite leaving the game and admitting he was "hurting," Colvin returned to Sunday's action and finished the contest playing through the chest injury. The Texans haven't elaborated too much on Colvin's status, but the fact that he was able to see out Sunday's contest suggests the pain might be manageable enough to fight through. Colvin has made clear his intentions of remaining on the field, so it would have to take a strong fight from the medical staff to keep him sidelined.

Texans' Aaron Colvin: Suffers chest injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Giants due to a chest injury.

Colvin was replaced by Shareece Wright, who will continue to serve as Houston's starting right cornerback as long as Colvin remains sidelined. If Colvin is unable to return, expect an update on his health after the game.

Aaron Colvin: Heading to Houston
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin plans to sign a four-year deal with Texans, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.

The deal is reported to be $34 million, with $18 million guaranteed. Colvin recorded 45 tackles (38 solo) and five passes defensed in 16 games with the Jaguars last season. The Texans allowed the most points in the league last season, so the addition of Colvin could go a long way in shoring up their secondary.

Jaguars' Aaron Colvin: Ties team high in tackles Week 5
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Colvin recorded 10 tackles (nine solo) during Sunday's 30-9 win in Pittsburgh.

Two of Colvin's 10 tackles went for losses. The 26-year-old did all of his damage on just 55 snaps (70.0 percent). He will look to carry his momentum into Week 6 against the Rams.
