Coleman signed his second-round tender Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Coleman will remain in Seattle, where he recorded 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions last season. The 25-year-old could see an even larger role in the Seahawks' defense next season, given the departure of Richard Sherman.
Coleman received a second-round tender Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Coleman was set to become a free agent come Wednesday, but now teams will be required to give up a second-round pick to obtain the 24-year-old cornerback. He spent two seasons with New England before coming to Seattle in 2017. Coleman finished last year with 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Coleman marked 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, nine pass breakups and returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the 2017 season.
Coleman played a majority of his defensive snaps because Byron Maxwell sat out six games due to hamstring and foot injuries, and when Maxwell returned, Richard Sherman's season ended due to an Achilles injury. Regardless, he was up to the task and posted the best stats of his career by a long shot. If the rest of the corners are healthy in 2018, though, Coleman will have to fight to play the same role again.
Coleman exited Sunday's loss to the Rams with a minor chest injury. The cornerback's absence from the report suggest's he's in no danger of missing the Week 16 matchup with the Cowboys.
The chest injury Coleman suffered in Sunday's loss to Rams appears to be a minor injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Coleman sustained the injury while colliding with a teammate in the first half, but still played 44 of 71 defense snaps Sunday. The 24-year-old's status should become clearer once practice begins this week, but it seems likely he'll be able to play in Week 16.
