Igwebuike was an undrafted rookie in 2018 and played six games between the Buccaneers and 49ers, playing strictly on special teams. The Eagles already have their starters at safety, so Igwebuike will look to carve out a place on special teams in Philly as well.
Igwebuike was waived by the 49ers on Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Igwebuike played 64 special teams snaps between the 49ers and Buccaneers in 2018 and recorded two total tackles. The second-year safety now parts ways with the 49ers with a new crop of undrafted players set to join the roster.
Igwebuike was waived by the Buccaneers on Monday after being promoted from the team's practice squad earlier this month, and recorded one tackle as he played in one of two games while on the team. The 24-year-old brings some much needed depth to the safety spot with Jimmie Ward (forearm) on injured reserve, while Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) and D.J. Reed (heel) are also nursing injuries.
Igwebuike was waived by the Buccaneers on Monday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Igwebuike was initially promoted to the Buccaneers' active roster on Nov. 16, but he's now parted ways with the team. In his lone game with Tampa Bay, Igwebuike played 12 special teams snaps and recorded one assisted tackle. The undrafted rookie will now be subjected to league waivers and will be free to search for a depth role if he goes unclaimed.
Igwebuike was promoted to the 53-man roster following Tampa Bay's decision to waive Demone Harris. The undrafted free agent will offer the Buccaneers' secondary some much-needed depth in the absence of starting strong safety Justin Evans (toe), who is ruled out for Sunday's tilt against the Giants.
