Browns' John Johnson: Chooses Cleveland as next home
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson agreed to a three-year, $33.75 million contract with the Browns on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Johnson had numerous teams after him but ultimately chose to sign with the Browns, who will pay him $24 million in guaranteed money on the deal. He topped 100 tackles for the second time in the past three seasons with the Rams in 2020 and should be an impact starter at strong safety with Cleveland.

Rams' John Johnson: Tops 100 tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson recorded 105 tackles (73 solo), an interception and eight pass breakups over 16 games during the 2020 regular season.

After being limited to just six appearances in 2019, Johnson played the full slate in 2020 and turned in excellent production out of the secondary. Johnson is often overshadowed by superstars Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, but the free safety is another key cog for the Los Angeles defense.

Rams' John Johnson: Ties for second on team in tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson logged seven tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Jets.

Johnson has been enjoying an excellent year in coverage with only 4.7 yards allowed per target and zero touchdowns surrendered over 55 opponent pass attempts. Week 15 was undoubtedly a lowlight for the Rams defense, however, as the No. 3 scoring unit allowed New York to reach 23 points for the fifth time this season while conceding a season-high 71 percent completion rate to Sam Darnold. Johnson and the Rams secondary must recalibrate quickly, facing a Week 16 road assignment against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

Rams' John Johnson: Strong season continues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson recorded nine tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 38-28 win over Arizona.

The fourth-year free safety is having an excellent season with 83 tackles (56 solo), eight passes defensed and an interception. Johnson can be started confidently week in, week out in most IDP settings.

Rams' John Johnson: Totals six tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson had six tackles (three solo) and one pass defensed during Monday's win over Tampa Bay.

The 24-year-old has yet to miss a defensive snap for Los Angeles this season and ranks second on the team in tackles. Johnson has 67 tackles (42 solo), six passes defensed and one interception through 10 games in 2020.

Rams' John Johnson: Registers 13 tackles in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson finished with 13 tackles (five solo) in Sunday's matchup against the 49ers.

Johnson's previous best for tackles in a game this season was 10, but he set a new mark in Week 6. He's secured 46 tackles and has picked off a pass through six contests in 2020.

Rams' John Johnson: Continues strong play
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson secured six tackles (five solo), including two for a loss, during Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants.

The fourth-year starter has quickly reestablished himself as an excellent fantasy option after sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury and playing just six games last year. Johnson projects to continuing playing nearly every defensive snap and providing reliable weekly tackle totals.

Rams' John Johnson: Ready to rock
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (shoulder) has been a full participant during training camp, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.

Johnson dealt with a shoulder injury that knocked him out of the 2019 season in Week 6, but as evidenced by this news, made a full recovery ahead of the 2020 season. Now healthy, Johnson could be one of the leaders in the secondary with Jalen Ramsey. Johnson compiled 51 tackles (24 solo), two defended passes and two interceptions across six games in 2019.

Rams' John Johnson: Progressing in recovery
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Coach Sean McVay said Johnson (shoulder) is "making good progress," Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.

Johnson compiled 51 tackles (24 solo), two defended passes and two interceptions across six games in 2019 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury Week 6. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, the 24-year-old will focus on making a full recovery in time to kick off the 2020 campaign. In the wake of Eric Weddle's retirement, Johnson will be counted on as a regular starter in Los Angeles' secondary.

Rams' John Johnson: Dependable before injury in 2019
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (shoulder) posted 51 tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions over six games in 2019.

Johnson suffered a shoulder injury in Week 6 and was subsequently placed on IR and shut down for the season. In his third pro season, Johnson was an every-down safety and was on track for a second straight 100-tackle campaign. He was making plays in coverage as well. The 24-year-old is heading into the final year of his rookie contract, and he may be in line for a starting role again next year depending on whether Eric Weddle (knee/shoulder) returns.

Rams' John Johnson: Lands on IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

Johnson will be eligible to return for Week 16's game against the Cardinals, but there's a good chance he's shut down for the season. The Rams' defensive outlook was bleak with Johnson, Clay Matthews (jaw) and Aqib Talib (ribs) all hurting, but they're hoping the addition of cornerback Jalen Ramsey via trade from the Rams can cover some of the weaknesses. Taylor Rapp figures to start at strong safety Sunday against the Falcons.

Rams' John Johnson: Set for more tests
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will undergo additional testing on his shoulder, and he may be out indefinitely, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

The Rams don't appear optimistic about Johnson's chances of playing anytime soon considering they don't even expect a specific timeline for his return. It seems unlikely Johnson plays Sunday against the Falcons. That would downgrade the Rams' defense, as Johnson has 51 tackles and two picks through six games. Taylor Rapp is the next man up at strong safety.

Rams' John Johnson: Departs with injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was forced out of Sunday's game against the 49ers with a shoulder injury, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

Johnson left in the fourth quarter and didn't return. He made nine tackles (three solo) before exiting the contest. This would be a major hit to the Rams' secondary if he can't play Week 7 against the Falcons since he's essentially an every-snap player.

Rams' John Johnson: Tallies 11 tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson had 11 tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.

Johnson and fellow safety Eric Weddle combined for 26 tackles as Tampa Bay's wide receivers -- namely Chris Godwin -- were able to find openings all over the field. Johnson has 37 tackles (18 solo) and two interceptions through four games this year.

Rams' John Johnson: Another interception Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson recorded nine tackles (two solo) and an interception across 72 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Browns.

Johnson now has an interception in back-to-back weeks. The third year pro sealed a victory for the Rams with a pick in the end zone as time wound down and the Browns knocking on the door. He also led the Rams in tackles, playing every defensive snap in the contest. There's a good chance the safety's interception streak could continue next week against Jameis Winston, who's already thrown four picks through three games.

Rams' John Johnson: Snags INT in Week 2
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson made six tackles (four solo) and an interception in Sunday's win over the Saints.

Johnson continues to be used heavily on defense, playing 63 of 65 possible defensive snaps and looking good in coverage. The third-year pro has solid IDP upside after piling up 119 tackles and 11 pass breakups last year, and he's setting himself up for similar numbers in this campaign. Johnson has a good chance to continue this trend in Week 3 against the Browns, as Baker Mayfield has thrown four interceptions through two games.

Rams' John Johnson: Racks up tackles in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson made 11 tackles (six solo) during Sunday's win over Carolina.

Johnson made his presence felt from his safety position, even getting into the backfield to record a tackle for loss in the win. The 23-year-old may have a new safety partner for Week 2, however, as Eric Weddle was carted off the field and was being evaluated for a concussion. Next Sunday could be a much stiffer test for Johnson and the Rams defense, as Drew Brees and the Saints visit Los Angeles.

Rams' John Johnson: Reaches double-digit tackles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson had 14 tackles (11 solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Eagles.

Johnson has come into his own this season and is second on the team with 106 tackles (74 solo) through 14 games. The 22-year-old has four interceptions and a forced fumble, as he's turned into an every-down player in his sophomore season.

Rams' John Johnson: Tames Lions to lead defense
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson recorded a team-high 11 tackles (nine solo) during Sunday's 30-16 win over Detroit.

This was the third time Johnson has registered 11 tackles, and he's now up to an impressive 85 with three interceptions for the season. The 22-year-old strong safety is thriving in his first full season as a starter, and the Boston College product should remain a solid IDP option down the fantasy stretch drive.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson recorded 11 tackles (nine solo) during Monday's 54-51 win over the Chiefs.

Johnson led the Rams in tackles Monday night, managing his second double-digit sack total of the season. The second-year safety out of Boston College has 74 tackles on the year and has transformed into a reliable IDP play.
