The Bengals placed Wren (quadriceps) on injured reserve Sunday.
Wren suffered a quadriceps injury during practice last week, and this news confirms the severity of it. The 24-year-old will stay on the team's IR, barring an injury settlement.
Wren suffered a serious quadriceps injury during Monday's practice, Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The Bengals reportedly fear that Wren will be required to miss the entire 2020 campaign, though the 2019 fourth-round pick is seeking a second medical opinion. The 24-year-old was expected to take a step forward in the defensive tackle rotation after having notched eight tackles as a rookie.
Wren (undisclosed) was activated from the active/non-football injury list Thursday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Although the injury was undisclosed, Wren will now be able to join his teammates as they begin to ramp up training camp practices. The 2019 fourth-round selection will compete for a depth role on the defensive line, which got even more competitive earlier this week with the signing of veteran Mike Daniels.
The Bengals placed Wren (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Monday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Wren played a reserve role in 11 games with Cincinnati as a rookie before landing on IR due to a hip injury, so it's possible his current issue is related. In any case, he stands to compete for a depth gig when back to full health.
The Bengals announced Friday that Wren (hip) will be placed on injured reserve, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Wren appeared in 11 contests in his rookie season, playing a depth role on Cincinnati's defensive line and compiling eight tackles (four solo). He's nursing a hip injury, per Dragon. The rookie fourth-round pick will set his sights on getting healthy in time for offseason workouts.
The Bengals selected Wren in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 125th overall.
Cincinnati adds some youth to its defensive interior behind Geno Atkins and Andrew Billings. The Arizona State product is a load at 318 pounds with standout athleticism for that size, highlighted by a 118-inch broad jump that shows strength and explosiveness in his lower half. Wren is a run-stuffer primarily, one that won't add much of a pass rush on the interior.
