Jones was promoted from the Cardinals' practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com reports.
Jones spent Week 12 as a member of the active roster before being demoted back down to the practice squad, but he'll return to the Cardinals' 53-man unit as of Tuesday. He figures to primarily serve on special teams Sunday against the Rams.
The Cardinals released Jones on Tuesday, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Jones was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 20, appearing in one game but failing to record a statistic. The Cardinals signed cornerbacks Dontae Johnson and Quinten Rollins to take his place.
Jones will take the spot on the 53-man roster vacated by Jamar Taylor, who was let go by the Cardinals. The rookie will likely provide depth behind Bene Benwikere and Leonard Johnson.
