The Cardinals declined to match the Chiefs' offer on Williams, who was a restricted free agent in Arizona. Last season he recorded a career-high 20 tackles and also forced a fumble in 11 games (one start). Bennie Logan, the Chiefs starting nose tackle last season, remains a free agent, so there is a strong chance Williams could immediately find himself in a starting role.
Williams was held out of practice on Wednesday before logging limited participation on Thursday and Friday. Though he may not be 100 percent, he won't need to see the field often as a depth player along the defensive line.
Williams sustained a knee injury against the Buccaneers on Sunday and is questionable to return, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.
The Cardinals defensive line was already short on depth with backup defensive ends Olsen Pierre (ankle) and Robert Nkemdiche (calf) both inactive Sunday. If Williams is unable to return, nose tackle Rodney Gunter would be the only reserve defensive lineman available for Arizona.
