  • Bears' Bravvion Roy: Claimed off waivers by Chicago

The Bears claimed Roy off waivers from the Panthers on Tuesday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Roy was waived Monday, likely due to the Panthers' switch to a 3-4 scheme under new defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. The 2020 sixth-round pick was a solid rotational player during his three seasons in Carolina and figures to compete for a depth spot in Chicago.

  • Panthers' Bravvion Roy: Designated to return from IR

Roy (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports. The Panthers now have a 21-day window to either add Roy to the active roster or return him to IR for the remainder of the season, the first of which seems more likely. In two games this season, the defensive tackle has made two tackles while playing 41 defensive snaps.

  • Panthers' Bravvion Roy: Exit's Sunday's contest

Roy (hamstring) will not return to Sunday's game against the Giants, Augusta Stone of the Panthers' official site reports. Roy's absence will leave Carolina thin on depth across their defensive line. Marquan McCall will now be the primary active backup at defensive tackle behind starters Matt Ioannidis and Derrick Brown.

  • Panthers' Bravvion Roy: To get first start of NFL career

Roy will start in place of the injured Zach Kerr (toe) during Thursday night's matchup against the Falcons. The rookie from Baylor has earned his first NFL start, and he will do so playing for his former college coach, Matt Rhule. Despite questions regarding a lack of overall experience, Carolina's scoring defense has proven surprisingly steady, ranking 13th in the league heading into Week 8. The rush defense, in particular, has been spotty, however, allowing the fifth-most rushing yards (751) and the second-highest total of rushing touchdowns to opposing backs.

  • Panthers' Bravvion Roy: Joins Carolina in sixth

The Panthers selected Roy in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 184th overall. Coach Matt Rhule and defensive coordinator Phil Snow bring along their trusty nose tackle from Baylor, where Roy (6-foot-1, 332 pounds) anchored a strong Baylor run defense. With 61 tackles and 13 tackles for loss in 2019, Roy has some disruptive abilities, too. This looks like a nice pick for the Panthers.
