Chargers' Michael Davis: Inks RFA tender
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis signed his contract tender with the Chargers on Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Davis will earn a $3.3 million salary for the 2020 season as a result of being extended a second-round tender by Los Angeles. He became an unlikely starter for the Chargers in 2019 after going undrafted out of BYU, and he'll be in the mix for the team's No. 2 corner role again for the 2020 campaign.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Given tender by Chargers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Chargers are giving Davis a second-round tender.

The undrafted rookie out of BYU became a surprise starter for the Chargers in 2019, logging 39 tackles (31 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended over 12 games. Assuming no other club is willing to part with that kind of draft capital to sign him, he'll likely operate as one of the Bolts' starting cornerbacks in 2020.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Uneven play throughout season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis posted 39 tackles (31 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended across 12 games during the 2019 season.

Davis missed two games near the start of the season due to injury, and then another two later in the year after violating the league's substance abuse policy, disrupting what was expected to be a third-year breakout of sorts for the 25-year-old. A restricted free agent this offseason, Davis is expected to be retained by the Chargers, although it's possible the team could add a more reliable No. 2 corner opposite Casey Hayward.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Back to 53-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis (suspension) had his roster exemption lifted Wednesday and is back on the 53-man roster, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old will reclaim his starting role at cornerback after the two-game ban. Brandon Facyson filled in well during Davis' absence and will still receive some opportunities, according to coach Anthony Lynn.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Suspension lifted
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis had his suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy lifted Monday after sitting out the past two weeks, Eric Williams of reports.

The Chargers received a roster exemption for Davis, meaning they will be able to delay his activation to the 53-man roster and the corresponding move until later this week. With Davis back in the fold, Brandon Facyson should return to a depth role in the defensive backfield.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Receives two-game ban
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis was handed a two-game suspension Friday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old started and played every defensive snap over the last eight games, so his absence leaves a sizable hole to fill for the Chargers. Brandon Facyson should see increased work until Davis can return Week 15.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Grabs INT in Chargers' win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis recorded three solo tackles and an interception during Sunday's 30-10 win over the Dolphins.

Davis returned to the field after missing two games with a hamstring injury. The interception, on a deep ball intended for Miami wideout Preston Williams, was the first pick of Davis' career. Heading into Sunday's contest, Davis had just five special teams snaps to his name, but Week 4 saw the 24-year-old defensive back on the field for 52 defensive snaps.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Full participant Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis (hamstring) practiced fully Thursday.

Davis was limited in Wednesday's practice, so his full participation Thursday bodes very well for his status for Sunday's matchup with Miami. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since the season opener with the hamstring issue.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Limited to start week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Davis has missed two straight games due to a lingering hamstring injury. He didn't practice at all last week, so Wednesday's limited session is a step in the right direction. The starting cornerback will have two more opportunities to fully return to practice ahead of Sunday's tilt against the Dolphins.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Labeled doubtful again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Texans.

Davis did not participate in practice at all this week, and he appears to be trending toward missing a second straight game. If Davis is indeed unable to go, expect Brandon Facyson and Desmond King to play key roles in the Chargers' secondary.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Doubtful for Week 2
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Lions.

Davis suffered this injury during the season opener versus the Colts after just five snaps and didn't return. Davis didn't participate in practice all week, either, confirming it's unlikely he plays in Sunday's contest. The Chargers are clearly hindered at cornerback, as starter Trevor Williams (quadriceps) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Expect Brandon Facyson and Desmond King to see heavy usage if Davis sits out.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Picks up injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis suffered a hamstring injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Colts.

It's not clear how Davis picked up the injury, but it's possible it could stem from cramps from the heat in Southern California. Davis left the game early in the first quarter, so it's likely the team will have more updates on his status as the game wears on.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Performs well in first start of season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis recorded eight tackles (seven solo) in the Chargers' 25-17 win over the Seahawks on Sunday.

A lackluster performance from No. 2 cornerback Trevor Williams through the first half of the season allowed Davis to get the starting nod Sunday. The BYU product responded with an effective outing, playing all 81 defensive snaps and limiting his opposing matchup throughout the course of the game. While coach Anthony Lynn didn't outright state Davis would start over Williams in Week 10 against the Raiders, it seems likely the undrafted cornerback will earn another opportunity.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Listed as projected starter
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis is projected to start against the Seahawks on Sunday, Ricky Henne of the Chargers' official site reports.

Davis has passed fellow cornerback Trevor Williams on the Chargers' depth chart, and appears on track to draw the start Week 9. The undrafted rookie has logged more than 10 defensive snaps only twice this season, and will need to show well against the Seahawks' passing game Sunday for a chance to secure a continued starting role.

Chargers' Michael Davis: Signs with Chargers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis was added to the Chargers' active roster on Saturday.

Davis recorded 11 tackles in four preseason games with the Chargers and was probably signed due to Jason Verrett (knee) surprisingly being ruled out for Week 2. The undrafted rookie will likely only serve as a depth corner and special teams player against the Dolphins on Sunday.
