  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Nifty assist in loss

Dadonov had an assist and one shot on goal over 14:43 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Boston. Dadonov was jostled by Brandon Carlo in front of the net but managed to deflect a pass from Mike Hoffman to Kirby Dach, who beat Jeremy Swayman for the game's opening goal. It was the forward's third point in the last four games. The Canadiens have been waiting on Dadonov to turn on the offense, so much so that his lack of scoring led to him being a healthy scratch for five of eight games in late December, but the Canadiens need him now with a bevy of injuries to the team's forwards. Dadonov has four goals, nine assists and 60 shots through 39 contests.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Lights lamp twice in win

Dadonov scored two goals on a team-high six shots while adding two blocked shots, a hit and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Jets. Both goals came in the second period as Montreal seized control of the game. Dadonov snapped a 15-game goal drought with the performance, and his eruption doubled his goal total on the season through 36 contests. The 33-year-old doesn't have a top-six role at even strength right now but is still featured on the Habs' top power-play unit, so Tuesday's tallies could spark a second-half surge for the four-time 20-goal scorer.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Logs pair of helpers

Dadonov had two assists, two shots on goal, one hit and one blocked shot over 16:59 of ice time in Saturday's 5-4 win over St. Louis. Dadonov and Jake Evans each contributed to third-line mate Joel Armia's two goals. That's three goals in the last two games for that line. Dadonov has been in an out of the lineup as a healthy scratch, but he's been relatively productive when active. The Russian forward has eight points over the last 12 contests.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Returns to ice

Dadonov had a power-play assist, three shots on goal and one blocked shot over 13:38 of ice time in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Carolina. Dadonov was fresh off a two-game stint as a healthy scratch and helped on Arber Xhekaj's first-period goal. The Canadiens, which were 14-12-2 after a Dec. 12 win over Calgary, have lost seven of the last eight games. That has head coach Martin St. Louis shuffling bodies and tweaking lines in a quest for combinations that will break the team's slump.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Generates helper

Dadonov produced an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Coyotes. Dadonov has earned four assists over his last seven outings. It's a solid bounce-back for the 33-year-old winger, who was a healthy scratch Saturday versus the Lightning. He's produced two goals, five helpers, 32 shots on net and a minus-8 rating through 27 outings overall -- disappointing numbers for a player that produced 43 points in 78 contests just last year.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Hands out helper Monday

Dadonov provided an assist in Monday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Canucks. Dadonov set up Christian Dvorak for a game-tying goal in the third period. With a goal and an assist over his last two games, Dadonov is finally starting to look a bit more comfortable in the Canadiens' offense. The 33-year-old winger still has just four points through 21 outings, and he's added 28 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating. Name recognition only gets a player so far -- Dadonov's production won't be useful in many formats if he can't sustain his recent improvements.

Dadonov scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Oilers. He added two hits and one blocked shot over 13:23 of ice time. Dadonov buried a juicy rebound off a Joel Armia shot midway through the second period after Edmonton scored three consecutive goals. • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Assists in loss

Dadonov had an assist, one shot on goal and one hit in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Sabres. Dadonov slipped a pass to Sean Monahan in the neutral then watched his teammate take it to net for Montreal's second goal midway through the second period. A 43-point forward for Vegas last season, Dadonov has just two points, 20 shots and is minus-7 through 15 games for his new team. He also allotted a season-high 2:22 TOI on the power play, which is out of the norm; Dadonov averages just 47 seconds TOI/G when Montreal is a man up.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Finally gets on scoresheet

Dadonov scored his first goal of the season in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Devils. With New Jersey ahead 2-0 midway through the second period, the 33-year-old began a Montreal rush and also finished it by banging home the rebound on a Sean Monahan shot. Dadonov had gone without a point through his first 11 games with the Canadiens, but with his account now open, he'll look to return to the form that saw him score at least 20 goals in four of the prior five seasons, including 20 in 78 games last season for Vegas.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Makes return Tuesday

Dadonov (undisclosed) logged 13:02 of ice time in Montreal's 3-2 shootout win against Detroit on Tuesday. Dadonov was in the lineup for the first time since Oct. 27. He had two blocks and a minus-1 rating. He hasn't recorded a point in nine games this season. It's just a matter of time before he ends that scoring drought, but he doesn't have much of a role with the Canadiens and unless that changes, his fantasy value will be limited.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Practices Monday

Dadonov (undisclosed) practiced Monday and is a possibility to replace the suspended Josh Anderson for Tuesday's game against the Red Wings, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports. Dadonov, who missed the last four games, and Michael Pezzetta rotated in on the second line at Monday's practice. Each is a candidate to fill in for Anderson, who was suspended two games for a boarding infraction against the Golden Knights' Alex Pietrangelo during Saturday's loss. Dadonov has yet to score on 10 shots in eight games.

  • Canadiens' Evgenii Dadonov: Shipped to Montreal

Dadonov was traded from the Golden Knights to the Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for Shea Weber (ankle). The Golden Knights will finally get the cap relief they sought at the trade deadline when they failed to complete a deal with the Ducks for Dadonov. The 33-year-old winger finished the year strong, ending with 43 points, 177 shots on net and 65 hits in 78 contests. Dadonov should have a chance to compete for a top-six role with the Canadiens.

  • Golden Knights' Evgenii Dadonov: Dishes pair of helpers

Dadonov provided two assists and went plus-2 in Friday's 7-4 win over the Blues. Dadonov ended his three-game point drought Friday. The 33-year-old winger had an up-and-down first season with the Golden Knights. Overall, he posted 20 goals, 23 assists, 177 shots on net, 65 hits and a plus-4 rating, but it took a noticeable surge after the trade deadline --16 points in as many games -- to make his season numbers look more respectable. He has one year left on his contract, but Dadonov could be a trade candidate if the Golden Knights need to free up cap space.

In that span, the 33-year-old winger has four goals and eight assists. He was back in a third-line role Thursday, but it didn't slow him down on offense. That's good news for fantasy managers in need of a late-season boost of points. The winger has 19 goals, 20 helpers, 170 shots on net, 62 hits and a plus-7 rating in 71 appearances.
