Wagner suffered a ruptured Achilles prior to training camp, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports. Wagner signed a two-year deal with the Avalanche in July, but it could be a while before he suits up with the team. The 32-year-old was likely to be just a fourth-line option this season, but given the severity of his injury, it's likely he'll miss a majority of the campaign.... See More ... See Less

Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Joins Avalanche
Wagner signed a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Saturday, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports. Wagner provided 19 goals, 31 points and 69 PIM in 62 games with AHL Providence last season. He also appeared in one contest with Boston during the 2022-23 campaign, picking up six hits in 12:36 of ice time. Wagner should get a chance to compete for a fourth-line spot with the Avalanche out of training camp.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Reassigned to AHL Providence
Wagner was sent back to the minors Wednesday. During his brief stint in the NHL, Wagner saw action in just one game in which he dished out six hits while averaging 12:36 of ice time. The veteran winger was sent back to AHL Providence with youngster Joona Koppanen coming up in a corresponding roster move.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Recalled from AHL Providence
Wagner was recalled from AHL Providence on Thursday. Wagner was placed on waivers before the start of the season and has spent all season in the AHL. He has nine goals and 11 points in 27 games. Wagner has played in 359 NHL games during his career, scoring 37 goals and adding 26 assists.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Waived by Bruins
Wagner was placed on waivers Sunday, per CapFriendly. Wagner scored 15 goals and 27 points with AHL Providence last season. The veteran winger could see time with Boston as an injury replacement during the 2022-23 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Promoted to top level
Wagner was promoted from AHL Providence on Friday, Conor Ryan of MassLive.com reports. With a number of Bruins getting the night off, Wagner will draw into the lineup immediately for Friday's regular-season finale against the Maple Leafs. He's picked up 27 points through 62 AHL appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Lands on waiver wire
Wagner was placed on waivers by Boston on Saturday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. Wagner hasn't played in the minors since 2016-17 when he was still with Anaheim but appears headed for AHL Providence if he clears. Without Wagner in the lineup, Karson Kuhlman and Trent Frederic should see an uptick in ice time, though they figure to remain in bottom-six roles. For his part, Wagner should still see opportunities to play in the NHL this year whenever an injury pops up among the forward group.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Cleared to play
Wagner, who missed Saturday's game against the Sabres with an undisclosed issue, is available for Monday night's contest versus New Jersey, Eric Russo of the Bruins' official site reports. That said, it's unclear if Wagner will rejoin the team's fourth line Monday, with his replacement Karson Kuhlman having recorded a career-high six shots Saturday. Through 39 games, Wagner has logged two goals and five points to go along with a minus-10 rating... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Not expected to play Saturday
Wagner (undisclosed) didn't practice Friday, Eric Russo of the Bruins' official site reports. As a result, Wagner will "probably not" play Saturday against the Sabres, according to coach Bruce Cassidy. If Wagner -- who has two goals and five points in 39 games -- is sidelined, look for either Jake DeBrusk or Karson Kuhlman to draw into the Bruins' lineup against Buffalo.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Strikes shorthanded Wednesday
Wagner notched a shorthanded goal and seven PIM in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers. Wagner jumped on a loose puck and got free to tally the Bruins' first goal of the game and 9:41 of the second period. In the third, the Massachusetts native dropped the gloves with Anthony Bitetto after the two players had a run-in along the boards. The shorthanded point was Wagner's third point overall in 12 appearances. The 29-year-old has added 21 shots on goal, 13 PIM and 19 hits this year.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Finds the net Thursday
Wagner scored his first goal of the season in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Penguins. It was the first point in seven games to date for Wagner, who remains a mainstay on the Bruins' fourth line, centered by Sean Kuraly. Speedy Anders Bjork skated with the trio Thursday and given how effective the unit was versus Pittsburgh, it's a combo that has a chance to stick together for the time being.... See More ... Bruins' Chris Wagner: Cleared for 2020-21
Wagner (undisclosed) was omitted from Bruins President Cam Neely's injury report Monday, per Conor Ryan of MassLive.com. Wagner recorded six goals on 78 shots and four assists in 67 games for the Bruins last year. While the winger figures to start the year in a bottom-six role, the absence of David Pastrnak (hip) could create a competition in training camp between Wagner and Ondrej Kase for a spot on the second line.... Bruins' Chris Wagner: Ruled out Monday
Wagner (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup against the Lightning in Game 5 on Monday, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports. Wagner has just one point in his previous 10 appearances, so fantasy players are unlikely to notice his absence. Boston is also facing the possibility of being without Sean Kuraly (undisclosed) and Nick Ritchie (undisclosed) who are both game-time decisions. If that's the case, the Bruins figure to utilize Jack Studnicka and Anders Bjork.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Won't play Monday
Wagner (undisclosed) will sit out Monday's Game 5 versus the Lightning, Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic reports. Wagner was injured during Saturday's loss, and he'll now miss Monday's game, which will be the Bruins' last of the season if they lose. Anders Bjork and Trent Frederic are candidates to replace Wagner on the fourth line.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Absent from bench
Wagner (undisclosed) didn't appear on the Bruins' bench to start the third period, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. There haven't been any reports clarifying Wagner's absence, but there should be an update from head coach Bruce Cassidy in the near future. He played 6:33 and recorded one shot on net before exiting.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Picks up lone goal in loss
Wagner scored a goal on three shots and had a team-leading five hits Sunday in a 4-1 loss to the Flyers. Wagner got the Bruins on the board late in the second period, slamming a wraparound attempt off the skate of a Philadelphia defenseman and past netminder Carter Hart. The 29-year-old depth forward had six goals and four assists in 67 regular-season games.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Good to go
Wagner (undisclosed) is on the ice for practice Tuesday, Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston reports. Wagner missed Boston's previous two practices with an undisclosed issue, but barring any setbacks, he should be good to go for the team's first round-robin game against the Flyers on Aug. 2. The 29-year-old winger picked up six goals and 10 points in 67 games during the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Sidelined Monday
Wagner missed Monday's practice session, Conor Ryan of MassLive.com reports. Wagner joins Ondrej Kase, David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy on the "unfit to participate" list. The team is running out of time to get its lineup fully fit before the first round-robin clash with Philadelphia on Aug. 2. If Wagner is unable to play, Anton Blidh or Karson Kuhlman figures to get onto the ice.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Available for Tuesday's game
Wagner (upper body) will play in Tuesday's game versus the Lightning, Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe reports. Wagner will return after just one game on the mend, and he'll slot into the fourth line. The 28-year-old doesn't bring much offensive upside -- he has 10 points over 63 games -- but his physical presence (180 hits) will be integral as the division-leading Bruins stare down the second-place Lightning.... See More ... See Less -
Bruins' Chris Wagner: Back at practice
Wagner (upper body) practiced Monday, Joe Haggerty of NBC Sports Boston reports. Wagner missed Saturday's game against the Islanders, but he was sporting a regular practice jersey Monday while skating on the Bruins' fourth line with Sean Kuraly and Par Lindholm. Through 63 games, Wagner has recorded six goals and 10 points, numbers that limit his fantasy utility to formats where his hit totals (180) factor in.... See More ... See Less
