Copp scored a goal on five shots, leading the Red Wings to a 3-2 overtime win over the Sharks on Tuesday. The first star of the game, Copp scored the game-winner in overtime, banging home a loose puck in front of James Reimer. This goal snaps a three-game goalless streak for Copp and gives him six points so far in January. In his first season as a Red Wing, Copp has five goals and 26 points in 46 games.... See More ... Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Puts up assist Tuesday
Copp logged an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Coyotes. Copp has picked up the pace on offense lately with a goal and four helpers over his last seven outings. The 28-year-old is up to 25 points (two on the power play), 55 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through 43 contests. He remains on track to top the 30-point mark for the third straight season, but it seems unlikely he'll come very close to the career-best 53 points he had last season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Notches two helpers
Copp posted two assists and one shot in the Red Wings' 7-5 win over the Jets on Tuesday. Copp picked up assists on the first two Red Wing goals in Tuesday's contest. This performance gives the former Jet points in five of his last nine games but extends his goalless streak to 15 games. In his first year as a Red Wing, Copp has three goals and 23 points in 39 games.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Nabs helper in wild win
Copp supplied a game-winning assist in overtime Wednesday, as the Red Wings earned a 5-4 victory over the Penguins. Copp stormed toward the net and delivered a perfectly timed pass to defenseman Jake Walman to end the game. The Wings scored all five goals in succession to stun the Pens, and Copp's late helper was clutch for those relying on him in fantasy since he'd been quiet otherwise in this tightly contested contest.... Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Picks up two assists
Copp snagged a pair of assists versus the Lightning on Tuesday. Copp's offensive game has been rolling of late with two goals and six helpers in his last eight contests. At his current pace, the Michigan native is on track to top the 40-point mark for the second straight season. Despite generally filling a third-line role, Copp should still be considered a top-half fantasy target.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Nets goal vs. Columbus
Copp scored a goal in Detroit's 4-2 win over Columbus on Sunday. Copp has three goals and 14 points in 24 games in 2022-23. He's recorded at least a point in three of his last five contests. Copp had a better offensive pace in 2021-22, when he finished with 21 goals and 53 points in 72 games, but he also had more playing time. The 28-year-old forward entered Sunday's contest averaging 17:16 of ice time this season, down from 19:11 in 2021-22.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Contributes two helpers in rally
Copp registered a pair of assists, two shots on goal and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Sabres. Copp was a big part of the Red Wings' three-goal rally in the third period, setting up both of Oskar Sundqvist's goals. After a rough start to his Detroit tenure, Copp has earned a goal and five assists in his last six outings to stabilize his offense. The 28-year-old has 13 points (two goals, 11 helpers), 27 shots on net, 14 hits, 13 blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-1 rating through 22 contests in a middle-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Nets goal vs. Coyotes
Copp provided a goal in a 4-3 shootout win against Arizona on Friday. It was Copp's second goal and 11th point in 20 games this season. He's only been held off the scoresheet once in his last four contests. He was limited to an average of just 14:32 of ice time in three games from Nov. 17-23, which was down from 17:45 through his first 16 games of the season and thus a bit concerning. However, it looks like that was just an aberration given that he logged 18:33, including 2:58 on the power play Friday. If he continues to hold his position as a prominent top-six forward, then he should be able to maintain or even build upon his current scoring pace.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Sets table for two goals
Copp generated two assists in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Blue Jackets. Copp has recorded a goal and nine assists through 18 games for a decent 5-on-5 profile, but he's yet to strike on the power play, despite averaging two minutes of ice time in that special teams spot. Centering the second line with Tyler Bertuzzi and Lucas Raymond should ultimately lead to an uptick in production for Copp.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Credited with assist
Copp logged an assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Sharks. Copp set up Pius Suter's insurance marker in the third period. The helper snapped a three-game point drought for Copp, but he's still gone seven outings without a goal. The 28-year-old is up to eight points, 18 shots on net, 11 blocked shots, 10 hits and a minus-3 rating through 17 contests, a fairly disappointing stat line given the Red Wings inked him to a five-year deal worth over $5 million annually in the summer.... Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Slick passing in win
Copp delivered a primary assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Islanders. Copp's slick dump-off pass led to a breakaway goal for Dominik Kubalik in the third frame. There was a six-game stretch in October during which Copp failed to record any points, but the second-line pivot has marked the scoresheet in his last three contests. This Detroit team will need Copp to stay consistent since a number of its forwards are out of commission, including top-tier talents Jakub Vrana (personal) and Tyler Bertuzzi (upper body).... Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Lends helper Monday
Copp recorded an assist in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Sabres. Copp ended a six-game point drought with the assist. The 28-year-old has endured a slow start on offense with his new team -- he's been limited to three helpers and a minus-1 rating in nine contests. Copp had a career-high 53 points in 72 contests last year, so a little regression isn't too surprising. He's added nine shots on net, four hits, two blocked shots and two PIM, so he's not doing much to make up for his lack of scoring.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Notches assist in new threads
Copp recorded an assist Friday in his Red Wings debut, culminating in a 3-0 win over the Canadiens for Opening Night. Copp fully worked his way back from an abdominal injury that required surgery and ruled him out for the preseason. The versatile pivot picked up 17:36 of ice time with 1:53 on the power play and 2:30 shorthanded, which makes him an intriguing option in deep leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Healthy entering new season
Copp (abdomen) will be ready for Opening Night against the Canadiens next Friday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Prior reports suggested that Copp had a slim chance to draw into preseason action, but evidently the Wings have decided to take a cautious approach with the veteran pivot. Health permitting, Copp will hit a milestone of 500 career games played during his debut campaign with the Red Wings. The 28-year-old had a cup of coffee with Rangers last season after spending his first eight years in Winnipeg.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Making solid progress with injury
Copp (abdomen) skated with David Perron and Jakub Vrana in Tuesday's practice, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde is hanging onto his original goal of having Copp draw into the Oct. 14 season opener versus the visiting Canadiens, but there's reportedly a chance that he could debut with his new club near the end of the preseason if he continues to show progress in his return from core muscle surgery. Last season, the Jets traded Copp to the Rangers, and he managed 21 goals and 32 assists between the two clubs, good for career highs in both offensive categories. The industrious pivot can be used on the power play and penalty kill, which will be huge for a Detroit team that needs more balance overall.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Won't participate in preseason
Copp will miss the Red Wings' preseason contests after having abdominal surgery, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports Wednesday. Copp hasn't been ruled out for Opening Night against the Canadiens but should be available within the first week of the season if he does miss out. The 28-year-old center is coming off his second 30-plus point campaign in his career and should be capable of achieving that feat again in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Andrew Copp: Gets five-year deal from Wings
Copp penned a five-year, $28.125 million contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. Copp spent eight seasons with the Jets, for whom he tallied 184 points in 467 games before being shipped to the Rangers at the trade deadline last year. With New York, the Michigan native racked up eight goals and 10 assists in 16 regular-season contests and another 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in the playoffs, though he tallied just two assists and a minus-4 rating in their six-game loss to the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final. Still, Copp should be in the mix for a top-six role with Detroit and could push for a spot on the No. 1 power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Andrew Copp: Pockets power-play helper
Copp recorded a power-play assist, two shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Lightning in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final. Copp won a faceoff to Frank Vatrano, who scored the Rangers' lone goal. Both of those forwards were brought in at the trade deadline, and they're set for free agency this summer unless the Rangers can ink them to new deals. Copp finished the playoffs with six goals, eight assists, 41 shots on net and a minus-2 rating in 20 contests, following up a 53-point effort in 72 regular-season outings between the Rangers and the Jets.... Rangers' Andrew Copp: Picks up two points
Copp scored an empty-net goal on four shots and added a power-play assist in Monday's 6-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 7. Copp helped out on Adam Fox's opening tally before scoring the last goal of the second round into an empty cage. The 27-year-old Copp only got on the scoresheet in two of seven games versus the Hurricanes, but he had five points in those contests. He's up to six tallies, six assists, 31 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 14 playoff outings.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Andrew Copp: Records three points
Copp logged a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Hurricanes. Copp assisted on Frank Vatrano's power-play goal in the first period and an Adam Fox tally later in the frame before scoring off a turnover in the third. The 27-year-old forward now has five goals and five assists in the postseason after scoring his first three points of the series. Copp will look to get back on the scoresheet Thursday as the series shifts back to Carolina for Game 5.... See More ... See Less
