Without the veteran center available for practice, the team recalled Marco Kasper from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday and could deploy him versus Nashville if needed. For his part, Copp hasn't really found his stride this season with just one point in four appearances, a pace that would have him barely reaching the 20-point mark this year.

Copp will go for imaging to confirm the extent of the damage. Copp registered two goals and four blocked shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Islanders.
This was arguably the best performance from Copp all season. He did a remarkable job of controlling the puck in the attacking zone, creating second chances with his shot, and his defensive play was on point, too, thanks to the season high in blocked shots. Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin returned from a lower-body injury Thursday, which resulted in Copp shifting back to a more natural spot on the third line. The Michigan native has 12 goals, 20 assists and a plus-6 rating through 69 contests.

It's the 29-year-old center's first multi-point performance since Nov. 29. Copp led all Detroit forwards in even-strength ice time during the afternoon contest at 17:16, but his third-line assignment typically doesn't afford him that kind of workload. Over the course of his current 18-game goal drought, he's managed to produce just six assists, but he is up to 30 points (10 goals, 20 helpers) on the season -- the fourth straight season he's reached that mark.

The helper is nice and all, but this was Copp's first point in five games, and the disconcerting trend is that he hasn't seen meaningful action on the power play since mid-December. Patrick Kane is in town, and the Wings are flush with capable power-play producers between all four lines, so Copp will need to step up in 5-on-5 situations in order to be worth the roster spot in shallow leagues. The 29-year-old pivot has 10 goals, 15 assists and a plus-3 rating through 53 contests.

Copp is riding a five-game point streak comprised of three goals and a pair of helpers. The Michigan native has more offensive firepower than your traditional third-line pivot, and he doesn't seem affected by the fact that he's starting his shifts in the offensive zone just 34.8 percent of the time. With eight goals and 14 assists through 43 games, Copp remains a serviceable fantasy option in some of the deeper leagues.

The 29-year-old center is rolling with three goals and an assist during his four-game point streak after missing one contest with a lower-body injury. For the season, Copp has 21 points, 73 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 42 appearances, putting him on a pace similar to the one that saw him produce 42 points in 2022-23 but well short of his career-best 53 points in 2021-22.
