Islanders' Nikita Soshnikov: Hits waivers
Soshnikov was put on waivers Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Soshnikov has appeared in just three contests this season, posting four shots on goal and eight hits. He has averaged only 9:56 of ice time and hasn't been in the lineup since Nov. 8 against the Rangers. Soshnikov could get some playing time in the minors if he clears.

Islanders' Nikita Soshnikov: Healthy scratch once again
Soshnikov was a healthy scratch for the seventh straight game Saturday.
There was a chance that Soshnikov would play versus the Red Wings on Saturday as Cal Clutterbuck was questionable to play with an undisclosed injury. However, Clutterbuck proved during the pregame skate that he was ready to play. Soshnikov and Ross Johnston are the extra forwards for the Isles. They both would need an injury to get into the lineup. Which of the two would play likely depends on whether coach Lane Lambert wants Johnston's physical presence or Soshnikov's skill in the lineup.

Islanders' Nikita Soshnikov: Not much playing time
Soshnikov has only played two games without registering a point this season.
Soshnikov is the 13th or 14th forward for the Islanders, depending upon the situation. Ross Johnston is also a spare forward. The Islanders seem to play Johnston when they feel his physicality is needed, which would mean that Soshnikov would be the forward called upon when needed in all other situations. That being said, Soshnikov would likely need an injury to one of the skilled players ahead of him to see any significant playing time.

Islanders' Nikita Soshnikov: Expected to play Thursday
Soshnikov is likely to make his debut for the Islanders on Thursday versus the Panthers, Gabriela Carroll of the Islanders' official site reports.
Soshnikov has made the team out of training camp, but how long he remains on the team will likely depend upon his production. Soshnikov last played in the NHL during the 2018-19 season with the Blues. He has eight goals and eight assists in 87 career NHL games.

Islanders' Nikita Soshnikov: Pens one-year deal
Soshnikov inked a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Islanders on Wednesday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
Soshnikov last played in the NHL back in 2018-19 when he logged five games for the Blues and failed to register a point. Last season, the 28-year-old winger garnered 16 points in 33 KHL contests, plus another eight points in 13 postseason clashes.

Nikita Soshnikov: Heading home
Soshnikov inked a two-year contract with KHL club Salavat Yulaev Ufa on Monday.
Soshnikov spent much of the 2018-19 campaign watching from the press box, as the winger appeared in just 16 combined games between the NHL and AHL. In his five outings with the Blues, the winger notched a mere one shot on goal, five hits and two blocks while averaging a paltry 7:10 of ice time. Some early success with AHL Toronto kept the 25-year-old in the mix for a spot on the 23-man roster, but his inability to break into the lineup will see him return to his native Russia and likely marks the end of his NHL career.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Heads to San Antonio
Soshnikov cleared waivers Friday and was assigned to AHL San Antonio, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports.
Soshnikov wasn't claimed despite a measly $800,000 cap hit and a solid physical game. The 25-year-old needs consistent ice time to continue his development, as he has played just five games while being a healthy scratch five times since missing the first 13 contests due to a concussion. Expect Soshnikov to be on the top of the list in case the Blues need to recall depth forwards.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Designated for waivers
Soshnikov was placed on waivers by the Blues on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Soshnikov has seen action in just five games this season, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see the club trying to move him to the minors. Considering the 25-year-old winger carries a cap hit of just $800,000, there could be several teams interested in his services. By sending the Russian down to the minors, the team clears a spot on the 23-man roster for Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) to be activated off injured reserve. If he clears, Soshnikov will be sent to AHL Chicago, but should sit atop the list of potential call-ups.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Will be scratched Friday
Soshnikov is a healthy scratch for Friday's game versus the Predators, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
With Patrick Maroon (upper body) activated from injured reserve, Soshnikov will head to the press box. Soshnikov has suited up the last three games for the Blues but averaged just 6:55 of ice time and posted a minus-2 rating.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Logs 6:41 in season debut
Soshnikov recorded one hit and a plus-1 rating in Friday's 4-0 win over the Sharks.
With just 6:41 of ice time, it was difficult for Soshnikov to get much done. He could be in the healthy scratch conversation once Brayden Schenn (upper body) is ready to re-enter the lineup.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Will make season debut
Soshnikov (concussion) will suit up Friday against the Sharks, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Soshnikov spent the beginning of the season on non-roster injured reserve, and he spent the last few games as a healthy scratch. Coach Mike Yeo sees an opportunity to get him in the lineup, and he'll slot into the third line with Tyler Bozak and Alexander Steen. Soshnikov posted two points in 12 games for the Blues last year.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Comes off injured reserve
Soshnikov (concussion) was taken off non-roster injured reserve Wednesday.
Soshnikov suffered his concussion preparing for the start of training camp, so it seems unlikely he will immediately jump into the lineup, as he is no doubt behind his teammates in terms of game readiness. The winger will likely have to compete with Oskar Sundqvist and Ivan Barbashev for regular minutes and could find himself spending some time in the minors.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Brought back from minors
Soshnikov (concussion) returned to the Blues from his minor-league conditioning assignment Monday.
Soshnikov's potential return -- he'll remain on non-roster, injured reserve for the time being -- will create a logjam in an already crowded forward group that could see the return of Robby Fabbri (groin) as well. Jordan Kyrou figures to be a lock for the minors, while Robert Thomas or Oskar Sundqvist may also find themselves packing for AHL San Antonio.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Closing in on return
Soshnikov's (concussion) conditioning stint with AHL San Antonio will end Sunday, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Soshnikov's first opportunity to make his season debut with the Blues should come next Thursday against the Blue Jackets, but the 25-year-old winger has only totaled six goals and 11 points in 71 NHL appearances over the past two campaigns, so there's no reason for fantasy owners to have him on their radars at this point.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Will join team on trip
Soshnikov (concussion) will join the team on its upcoming road trip, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Soshnikov's appearance on a three-game road trip could suggest that he has a chance to return at some point during it, though the team hasn't disclosed whether or not that's the case. He will likely return to a bottom-six role when healthy.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Continues practicing with squad
Soshnikov (concussion) participated in Thursday's morning skate ahead of a home game against the Flames, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Soshnikov has been working with the team for over a week now but he won't play Thursday and the timeline for when he can take contact is still hazy. The Blues could use the grit that Soshnikov brings to the bottom-six since he brings more offensive upside than enforcer Chris Thorburn.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Participates fully in practice
Soshnikov (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Soshnikov said he's been skating for the past six weeks and he finally joined the team three days ago. He still needs to pass through the league's protocol before he can start taking contact and enter the lineup. The 24-year-old tops out as a fourth-line winger with little fantasy upside.

Blues' Nikita Soshnikov: Moves to non-roster IR
Soshnikov (concussion) was shifted to non-roster injured reserve Tuesday.
The Blues placed five players on non-roster IR, including Soshnikov, on Tuesday. As a result, Ivan Barbashev should get an extended look in the bottom six and on the left wing to start the season.
