Rempe opened the scoring in the second period during Sunday's 4-1 Game 1 win over the Capitals. The fan-favorite forward got the crowd into a frenzy with his goal 4:17 into the second period, and the Rangers rode the wave, adding two more goals in the next 2:06. Rempe added a plus-2 rating, two shots, two PIM and three hits in just 8:33 of ice time. He's no Artemi Panarin with the puck on his stick, but Rempe's physicality and penchant for penalties can provide surprising value in the right formats. In 18 career games including Sunday's, the 6-foot-7 winger has 73 PIM.... See More ... See Less

Rangers' Matt Rempe: Draws into last two games
Rempe was in the lineup for the last two games of the regular season and finished the 2023-24 campaign with one goal, one assist, 50 hits and 71 PIM in 17 appearances. Rempe will be an option on the fourth line for the Rangers in the postseason, as coach Peter Laviolette will be deciding between Rempe's physicality and Jonny Brodzinski's superior skill and speed for the final forward spot when the team's healthy up front. Rempe quickly became a fan favorite at MSG by throwing around his 6-foot-7, 241-pound frame with reckless abandon, and his physical style threw numerous opponents off their game despite Rempe averaging just 5:38 TOI.... Rangers' Matt Rempe: Completes four-game suspension
Rempe finished serving his four-game suspension following the Rangers' 5-2 victory over the Islanders on Sunday. He was being punished for elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler during last Monday's 3-1 loss to the Devils. Rempe is eligible to draw into the lineup for Tuesday's contest against Winnipeg. He has a goal, two points, 54 PIM and 30 hits in 10 appearances with the Rangers in 2023-24. If Rempe plays Tuesday, it will likely be as a member of the fourth line.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Matt Rempe: Receives four-game suspension
Rempe was suspended for four games Tuesday by the NHL Department of Player Safety for elbowing Jonas Siegenthaler of the Devils on Monday. Rempe received a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct at the 19:30 mark of the second period in Monday's 3-1 win over New Jersey. He won't be eligible to return until March 19 against Winnipeg. Rempe has compiled 54 PIM, 31 hits, one goal and one assist in 10 NHL outings this season. He is projected to be replaced in Tuesday's lineup by Jonny Brodzinski.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Matt Rempe: Hearing Tuesday for vicious hit
Rempe will have a hearing Tuesday for elbowing New Jersey's Jonas Siegenthaler during Monday's contest. Rempe was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct Monday. The 21-year-old has recorded 54 penalty minutes in 10 outings thus far. If he can't manage to stay out of the box come playoff time, then we might not see Rempe in the lineup.... See More ... Rangers' Matt Rempe: Back in NHL
Rempe was summoned from AHL Hartford on Friday, PuckPedia reports. Rempe was briefly sent to the minors in a paper transaction. He has a goal, two points and 39 PIM in eight outings with New York in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Matt Rempe: Assigned to AHL
Rempe was sent down to AHL Hartford on Friday, per Tony Androckitis. Rempe was sent down to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs. The 21-year-old has played eight games with the Rangers this year, recording one goal and one assist to go along with 24 hits. He will almost certainly be back with the big club come playoff time, if not sooner, as he's been a physical force for the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Matt Rempe: Better door than window
Rempe scored the game-winning goal Saturday in a 2-1 victory over Philadelphia. It was his first NHL point in his fourth game this season with the Rangers. The rookie forward was standing in front of Samuel Ersson when a puck tipped by Barclay Goodrow deflected in off his leg. At 6-foot-7 and 241 pounds, Rempe makes a better door than window, so Ersson had no chance. There may come a point where the Rangers consider parking Rempe in front of the net on the power play. He has never been a strong scorer at any level, but he's a real handful for opponents. Rempe also added five more PIM in Saturday's contest to give him a total of 27 so far.... See More ... See Less

Blue Line Station@BlueLineStation2D agoThis was potentially bad tonight. Game 6 in Raleigh where they can pick on Trouba and Gustafsson to force a game seven having won three in a row? Suddenly, this series is in the balance again because of this poor performance. Carolina turned up in the third and the Rangers folded

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB2D agoI don’t have anything for you all tonight. That third period was an ass whopping. Rangers came out about as disjointed as they have this entire playoffs. Better find that gear for Game 6. This absolutely cannot happen again

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB4D agoRangers were never going to go 16-0. Carolina very lucky to not lose that game despite how poorly the Rangers played. Kill em on Monday, boys.

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB4D agoNot really play wise, but results wise that was the worst 20 the Rangers have played in the playoffs. And Carolina is still lucky it wasn’t 2-2. Reset, boys. It’s ok.
