  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Returned to minors

Carlile was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Friday. Carlile has appeared in nine NHL games this year, generating one goal, five shots and nine hits while averaging 12:53 of ice time. The decision to return Carlile to the minors could be an indication that Victor Hedman (undisclosed) will be ready to play versus the Islanders on Saturday, though the Bolts could also bring another player back up from the minors.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Joining NHL club

Carlile was called up from the minors Tuesday. Carlile has just four games of NHL experience, in which he has generated one goal on three shots, two hits and four blocks. The Bolts' decision to bring up the young blueliner from the minors doesn't bode well for the availability of Victor Hedman (undisclosed) against the Devils on Tuesday. Even if Hedman doesn't play, Carlile is far from a lock to get into the lineup Tuesday and would need to edge out Max Crozier or Charle-Edouard D'Astous for minutes.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Waived by Tampa Bay

Carlile was placed on waivers by the Lightning on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Carlile has made just four regular-season NHL appearances across the past two years, and he'll be left off the Opening Night roster ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. He made 55 regular-season appearances with AHL Syracuse last year and recorded six goals, 10 assists and 52 PIM. He'll presumably head back to Syracuse if he clears waivers and will likely spend most of the season in the minors.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Promoted from AHL

Carlile was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Monday. Carlile is poised to replace Emil Lilleberg, who received a two-game suspension Monday, in the lineup for home matchups against the Blackhawks on Tuesday and the Kings on Thursday. The 24-year-old Carlile will most likely skate on the third pairing beside Nick Perbix. Carlile found the back of the net on his only shot in one appearance with the Lightning this season.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Promoted from minors

Carlile was elevated from AHL Syracuse on Tuesday. With J.J. Moser (undisclosed) on injured reserve and Victor Hedman (lower body) still questionable, the Bolts could be forced to utilize Carlile against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. In his previous appearance for Tampa this season, the 24-year-old Carlile scored a goal on one shot despite just 11:10 of ice time versus the Kraken on Dec. 14. If he does play Tuesday, Carlile figures to slot into a third-pairing role while Darren Raddysh or Emil Lilleberg could see more minutes.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Assigned to AHL

Carlile was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Sunday. Carlile made his NHL season debut in Saturday's 5-1 win over Seattle, scoring a goal and blocking two shots in 11:10 of playing time. The Lightning also sent Steve Santini to the minors, which could bode well for the availability of Victor Hedman (lower body) ahead of Tuesday's game versus Columbus. However, the demotions may be for salary cap purposes.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Scores first NHL goal

Carlile scored a goal and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Kraken. Carlile netted his first NHL goal at 19:38 of the third period after getting a late shift once the game was firmly in hand. The defenseman saw just 11:10 of ice time in the game while filling in for Victor Hedman (lower body). Carlile's time with the big club may be short, though he could stick around longer than Steve Santini once Hedman returns.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Called up Saturday

Carlile was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Saturday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports. Carlile will provide some reinforcement on Tampa's blue line after both Victor Hedman (lower body) and J.J. Moser (undisclosed) sat out of Friday's practice. Carlile, who appeared in one NHL game last season, has a goal and three points in 21 AHL contests this year.

  • Lightning's Declan Carlile: Signs two-year extension

Carlile signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Thursday. Carlile played most of the 2023-24 season with AHL Syracuse, where the defenseman had seven goals and 27 points in 61 regular-season games. He made his NHL debut Jan. 4 versus Minnesota, blocking a pair of shots in 11:27 of ice time. Carlile will likely spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Carlile was returned to AHL Syracuse on Friday. Carlile made his NHL debut Thursday versus the Wild and was a plus-1 with one hit and two blocked shots in 11:27 of action. Carlile has three goals and nine points in 31 AHL games this season.
