Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Helps on game-tying goal
Ylonen had an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots over 15:06 of ice time in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over Buffalo. Ylonen extended his point streak to three games when he picked up the secondary assist on Brendan Gallagher's third-period strike. The 23-year-old forward has helped Montreal survive the loss of several forwards to injury. He's shown ability on the offensive side but must gain a measure of consistency in his own end to be considered for a regular role next season.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Returns with multi-pointer
Ylonen (Illness) scored a goal and assisted on another in Saturday's 8-2 win over Columbus. He added four shots over 11:17 of ice time. In his return from a two-game absence due to illness, Ylonon picked up his fourth goal and fifth point over the last five contests. As the Canadiens continue to shuffle forwards due to injuries -- Josh Anderson (ankle) went down this week while Brendan Gallagher and Jake Evans returned -- it looks like Ylonen has a place on the roster for the rest of the season. He has six goals and eight assists over 30 games. All six tallies have come in the past 14 games, during which Ylonen has an unsustainable 31.6 shooting percentage.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Returns to practice
Ylonen (illness) returned to practice on Thursday and will likely be a healthy scratch versus Boston, Arpon Basu of The Athletic reports. Ylonen had a stomach issue Tuesday but said he was 100 percent Thursday. The winger has five goals and 12 points in 29 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Under the weather
Ylonen will not be in action against the Lightning on Tuesday due to illness. Ylonen may have been heading for the press box as a healthy scratch anyway, as both Kirby Dach (lower body) and Brendan Gallagher (lower body) are expected to return to action versus Tampa Bay. Still, the 23-year-old Ylonen has goals in three of his last four contests, showing the scoring touch that saw him selected by the organization with the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft.... The 23-year-old forward has three goals over the last four games. He had been skating on the first line, but line adjustments resulted in Ylonen playing on the second line Saturday. Ylonen has five goals and seven assists over 29 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Tallies in win
Ylonen scored a goal on one shot and blocked a shot over 13:07 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-4 win over Pittsburgh. Ylonen scored the second of four first-period goals against Tristan Jarry, who didn't see the forward's wrister coming due to the screen by Rafael Harvey-Pinard. The tally was the second in as many games for Ylonen, who continues to play on the first line. He has 11 points in 27 games since his callup.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Nets goal vs. Colorado
Ylonen supplied a goal in an 8-4 loss to Colorado on Monday. Ylonen found the back of the net midway through the third period, but it only reduced Colorado's lead to 7-3. He has three markers and 10 points in 26 contests in 2022-23. Ylonen didn't score a goal over his previous six contests, and he recorded just one assist in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Nabs helper in loss
Ylonen posted an assist in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights. Ylonen is providing solid middle-six offense lately with two goals and five helpers over his last 11 contests. He's added just 11 shots on net in that span, which suggests that offense is a bit unsustainable until he can start generating more chances. Ylonen replaced Denis Gurianov on the top line midway through the second period; minutes with Nick Suzuki are the reward for good play. The 23-year-old is up to nine points, 25 shots on net, 18 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 22 outings overall. With the Canadiens still battling numerous injuries throughout the lineup, he has significant job security until some forwards return.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Sent to AHL and promptly recalled
Ylonen was reassigned to AHL Laval and then promptly called up by Montreal on Friday. Ylonen is eligible to participate in the upcoming 2023 AHL playoffs thanks to this paper transaction. He struck midway through the third period on a pass from Rem Pitlick. Ylonen is up to eight points, 21 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating through 19 outings this season. The 23-year-old will likely continue to log third-line minutes while the Canadiens have a number of forwards out with injuries.... See More ... See Less -

It was the second assist in three games for Ylonen, who has four assists over 14 games since being called up to Montreal.... See More ... See Less -

He's picked up two helpers through 10 top-level appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Sent down Tuesday
Ylonen was reassigned to AHL Laval on Tuesday. Ylonen has produced two assists and a minus-4 rating through 10 contests this season. The 23-year-old will have an opportunity to play during the NHL's All-Star break, but with the Canadiens' brutal injury situation, he is likely to be back with the big club ahead of its Feb. 11 game versus the Islanders.... Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Grabs assist in loss
Ylonen had an assist, two shots on goal and two hits over 14:52 of ice time in Thursday's 6-2 loss to Florida. Ylonen opened the game on the top line -- the second consecutive game for the rookie -- but was dropped to the second line during the second period, when the Panthers scored five goals (four on the power play). He provided assistance on Josh Anderson's tally, his second assist in five games since being called up. With so many injuries hitting Montreal all at once, Ylonen could remain in a top-six role.... Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Moves to top line
Ylonen had two shots on goal over 17:30 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Jets. Ylonen was moved to the first line in the wake of three forwards being placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Montreal also made Jonathan Drouin (undisclosed) inactive for the game. All of that means more playing time, and perhaps an expanded role, for Ylonen. The Canadiens are intrigued by his offensive potential, and Ylonen could get an extended run with top-liners Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, the most productive scorers on the team.... See More ... Canadiens' Jesse Ylonen: Takes shifts on top line
Ylonen had one hit and two blocked shots over 12:34 of ice time in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Islanders. Ylonen opened the game on the fourth line, but he took shifts with the top line after Jake Evans departed with a lower-body injury. After Evans' early exit, Ylonen and fellow fourth-liner Jonathan Drouin rotated on the first line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. This was Ylonen's second game with the team since being called up earlier in the week, and he was given over four minutes more of TOI. The Canadiens are intrigued by his offensive potential, but it's unclear if Ylonen will be part of the top line when the Habs face the Rangers on Sunday.... See More ... See Less
