  • Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Announced as finalist for Masterton Trophy

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/21/18) Luongo was named one of the top-three finishers for Masterton Trophy voting Saturday.

The 39-year-old played just 35 games this season while battling various injuries, but he still nearly managed to lead the Panthers to the postseason with a strong second half. He posted an 18-11-2 record with a .929 save percentage and 2.47 GAA. Hopefully, Luongo can use the offseason to regain his health and come back strong for the 2018-19 campaign.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Will be back next season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/10/18) Luongo has no plans to retire and will suit up for the Panthers in 2018-19, Matthew DeFranks of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Considering Luongo is under contract through the 2021-22 season for $5.3 million per year, its not a shock that he plans to play some more. The netminder told reporters he would like to see between 50-60 regular-season games, which is slightly higher than his previous two campaigns. With 1001 outings under his belt, the 38-year-old leads all active goalies and needs just 29 more to move into second ahead of Patrick Roy and behind Martin Brodeur. As long as he is the starter, the Montreal native will offer solid fantasy value.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Makes eight saves in relief

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/18) Luongo came on in relief for James Reimer (hand) during the third period to stop eight shots in a 4-2 victory over the Bruins on Sunday.

With nothing to play for Sunday, Reimer started as expected, but Luongo played the final eight minutes after Reimer suffered a hand injury. Luongo stopped every shot, but he didn't factor into the decision, leaving his final regular-season stats for 2017-18 virtually unchanged. He went 18-11-2 with a 2.47 GAA and .929 save percentage.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Will not start as planned Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/18) Luongo will no longer start Saturday against the Sabres since they've been eliminated from playoff contention, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.

The Flyers clinched a playoff berth with a 5-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday afternoon to officially block the Panthers from postseason play. James Reimer reportedly will start for the Panthers instead of Luongo, who won three straight games to give Florida some hope toward the end, but it seems unlikely that Bobby Lou will be out there against the Bruins for Sunday's lone matchup. Assuming we really have seen the last of the 39-year-old in the 2017-18 campaign, he finishes with an 18-11-2 record, 2.48 GAA and .929 save percentage over 34 games.

Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Gearing up for Saturday's start

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/18) Luongo is preparing to face the Sabres at home Saturday, Alain Poupart of NHL.com reports.

Luongo, who defeated the Bruins in his 1,000th career contest Thursday, was first off the ice at morning skate, which is the strong indication that he'll be put to work against Buffalo. These Swords are quite dull based on their league-worst 25-44-12 record, but it's worth noting that they do have University of Minnesota product Casey Mittelstadt (2017's eighth overall draft pick) closing out the season at the highest level.
