Once considered a top-three team in the world, China hasn't quite lived up to past expectations recently. The team hopes 2019 is different. After finishing second at the World Cup 20 years ago, China has made three of the next four tournaments but never did they get past the quarterfinal stage.

China got four points in the group stage and earned a spot in the knockout stage, getting a key draw against Spain in its final group stage game. China was bounced in the round of 16, dropping a knockout stage match to Italy, 2-0.

The forward scored at least one goal in each of China's five games at the AFC Women's Asian Cup in 2018.
