COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Shaq Calhoun scored 21 points, Curtis Phillips Jr. had a double-double and Tennessee Tech led most of the way in a 69-64 win over Tennessee State on Thursday night.

Phillips had back-to-back layups for a 7-4 lead with 13:32 left in the first half and the Golden Eagles (18-12, 10-7 Ohio Valley) led the rest of the game. Calhoun and Cade Crosland scored consecutive 3-pointers before intermission and Tennessee Tech led 33-19 at halftime.

Calhoun's layup with seven minutes left made it a 16-point margin before Tennessee State drew within 64-60 with a minute left after a 19-7 run. The Golden Eagles made five of six free throws to wrap it up.

Phillips finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals but committed eight turnovers. Mason Ramsey scored 11.

Christian Mekowulu led Tennessee State (15-13, 10-7) with 19 points and Armani Chaney and Delano Spencer each scored 16.
