Bruner's late dunk lifts Yale past Albany, 59-55
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Jordan Bruner dunked with 1:14 left to give Yale the cushion it needed to post a 59-55 win over the Great Danes of Albany Saturday.
It was Yale's second home game and first since the November 17 opener, an overtime win over Lehigh.
Alex Copeland drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game midway through the second half and Anthony Dallier's jumper gave the Bulldogs the lead for good, 46-44. Albany's David Nichols scored to cut the Yale lead to one, 54-43, with under two minutes to play.
Bruner's dunk made it 56-53, but Greg Stire's layup with 51 seconds left cut the Yale lead to one, 56-55, before Trey Phillips hit the first of two free throws and Copeland followed with a pair to set the final margin.
Dallier and Copeland each finished with 15 points for Yale (3-4).
Nichols finished with 15 points for Albany (4-4).
