HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) Rokas Gustys had 14 points and 13 rebounds as Hofstra Pride started strong and pulled away from Kennesaw State Owls to take a 75-57 win in the first meeting between these schools on Monday night.
Gustys, who was 5 of 9 from the field, had his 35th career double-double and added seven offensive rebounds. Justin Wright-Foreman added 16 points after leading all scorers with 25 in the Pride's season-opening 77-74 win over Army. Eli Pemberton came off the bench to chip in 12 points.
Hofstra (2-0) sprinted to a 26-16 lead midway in the first half and took a 41-27 lead into the break. The Owls were never able to close the gap.
The Pride was 28-of-58 (48.3 percent) shooting from the floor while limiting Kennesaw State (0-2) to 22-of-74 (30 percent) shooting.
Kosta Jankovic had 15 points and Kyle Clarke added 12 for the Owls.
