GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) Dale Jones scored 18 points, Geno Crandall added 17 and North Dakota defeated Montana State 75-74 on Thursday night.

The Fighting Hawks (8-14, 3-7 Big Sky) led 75-68 after two Crandall free throws with 1:26 to go before Harald Frey made two free throws and hit a 3-pointer to get the Bobcats (12-11, 5-5) within a point with 28 seconds remaining. Crandall missed a shot with 10 seconds left but Tyler Hall's 3-point try also missed for Montana State.

Conner Avants' two free throws with 4:50 left gave North Dakota the lead for good at 66-65.

Cortez Seals added 12 points and Avants 10 for North Dakota, which snapped a three-game losing streak and avenged a 79-68 loss at Montana State on Jan. 6.

Frey scored 21 points, Keljin Blevins 14 and Zach Green 10 for MSU, which has lost five of its last six.
