The Miami Hurricanes will not be playing football this weekend as scheduled. The team was set to head to Jonesboro, Arkansas, for their game against Arkansas State, but with Hurricane Irma bearing down on the state of Florida, Miami officials are playing it safe and canceling the game altogether, Miami athletic director Blake James said via the Miami Herald.

Miami coach Mark Richt is releasing the players so that they can seek safety from the storm out of town, according to the Associated Press.

With no common weeks off between the two programs, no makeup date will be possible, leaving both teams with 11 regular season games.

The storm has already forced schools around the state to alter plans. UCF is scheduled to face Memphis, but that game has been moved up to Friday night to allow for more storm preparation. FIU was set to have their home opener against Alcorn State on Saturday, but school officials are looking at alternate options and said the game will not take place Saturday.

Florida and FSU have not yet announced changes to their scheduled games. FAU and South Florida are both on the road at Wisconsin and UConn respectively.
