  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Struggles from field

Tyson provided three points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 24 minutes during Thursday's 114-106 loss to the 76ers.

Tyson struggled offensively, missing all four attempts from beyond the arc, but salvaged some fantasy value with his rebounding and defensive contributions. His 24-minute workload was encouraging, though he'll need to improve his shooting efficiency to become a more reliable fantasy contributor.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Team option picked up

The Cavaliers have exercised Tyson's fourth-year rookie-scale team option for the 2027-28 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Tyson enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in 2025-26, averaging 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.8 steals in 26.9 minutes across 66 regular-season appearances (42 starts). The 23-year-old wing shot an impressive 44.6 percent from three-point range, the fourth-best mark in the NBA, and recorded eight games with at least 20 points, including a career-high 39 against Philadelphia on Jan. 16. Tyson's emergence as a reliable perimeter threat should keep him firmly in Cleveland's rotation entering his third season.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Efficient in reserve role

Tyson finished with 12 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 132-116 preseason loss to the Magic.

Tyson made the most of his offensive opportunities, converting five of nine field-goal attempts while contributing on the glass. His 25 minutes gave Cleveland an extended look at the wing, who will look to translate his solid preseason showing into a consistent role once the regular season begins.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Not starting Sunday

Tyson won't start Sunday's preseason game against the Magic, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.

James Harden (ankle) is back in the starting five, pushing Tyson to the second unit. Across 17 minutes in Thursday's preseason-opening loss to Boston, he posted 14 points, three rebounds and two assists.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Strong showing in preseason loss

Tyson tallied 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes during Thursday's 124-113 preseason loss to the Celtics.

Tyson put together a solid night on the offensive end, and his effort was enough to lead the Cavs in scoring. He drew the start Thursday with James Harden (ankle) sidelined, though he'll be expected see the majority of his minutes off the bench once the regular season gets underway later this month.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Starting vs. Boston

Tyson will start Thursday's preseason game against the Celtics, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.

With James Harden (ankle) unavailable, Tyson will enter the starting five in the Cavaliers' preseason opener. He'll be joined in the first unit by Donovan Mitchell, Peyton Watson, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Lesser role incoming?

Cleveland's offseason acquisition of Peyton Watson gives Tyson another threat for playing time in 2026-27, per Danny Cunningham of Sports Radio 92.3 The Fan Cleveland.

Tyson started a career-high 42 games last regular season, but that could change with Watson in the fold. Sam Merrill is also in the mix, offering the Cavaliers the opportunity to take a hot-hand approach between the three at small forward on a game-to-game basis. Tyson is just a late-round flier in fantasy leagues this fall.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: More competition for minutes

The Cavaliers' acquisition of Peyton Watson adds another high-upside wing to a rotation that already includes Tyson, creating additional competition for minutes on the perimeter.

Watson's four-year, $88 million contract suggests Cleveland views him as a significant part of its long-term core, and his defensive versatility should give him a clear path to playing time. Tyson should remain in the rotation, but Watson's arrival lowers his ceiling and could make it more difficult for Tyson to earn a substantial increase in minutes.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Quiet effort in Game 4

Tyson contributed two points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal over 16 minutes during Monday's 130-93 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Tyson had a very quiet postseason for the Cavaliers, but his performance in the regular season turned some heads. Across 66 contests, he averaged 26.9 minutes per game with 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 three-pointers on 49.3 percent shooting from the field and 44.6 percent from beyond the arc.

  • Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson: Scoreless in 18 minutes

Tyson provided zero points (0-1 FG), five rebounds and one assist over 18 minutes during Tuesday's 111-101 loss to the Pistons in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Tyson failed to score for the first time this postseason, continuing to play a limited role off the bench for the Cavaliers. Through eight appearances, he has scored in double digits only once, a 13-point performance in Game 3 against the Raptors. Despite averaging 25.7 minutes throughout the regular season, a shortened rotation has meant Tyson's role has diminished, as he's typically playing minutes in the mid-to-high teens.
