Angels' Jose Soriano: Sent down to minor-league camp

The Angels optioned Soriano to minor-league camp Saturday.

Soriano is a member of the Angels' 40-man roster but wasn't a serious candidate to make the Opening Day club as a pitcher that hasn't advanced past Low-A so far. The right-hander will likely report to Double-A Rocket City and could help the Angels bullpen at some point down the line if he shows the ability to command his arsenal on a more consistent basis.
