Athletics' Buddy Reed: Set to miss time

Manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday that Reed (quadriceps) will be "out a while" after undergoing an MRI, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The 25-year-old suffered a right quadriceps strain while hitting in the cage Tuesday, and it appears he's facing an extended absence. Reed should be considered out indefinitely until the A's provide a recovery timeline.
