Brown is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
The lefty-hitting Brown will take a seat for the second game in a row with the Yankees bringing another southpaw (JP Sears) to the mound. The newly activated Stephen Piscotty (calf) will replace Brown in the lineup as Oakland's designated hitter, but Brown should still have a regular spot in the starting nine when the Athletics oppose right-handed pitchers.
